Nicole replied to the topic When searching for a knit fabric with at least 25% stretch online… in the forum oliver + s: playtime 9 years ago
I know I mentioned it earlier but I have had huge success from eBay, to the degree I have more then I need.
I am debating purchasing a 5m for $25 now as I don’t need it straight away but it is such an excellent price for cotton/lycra (and this stuff is wide, 160cm+)You could set up a search and browse when feeding.
I would be very happy to send…[Read more] -
Nicole replied to the topic side zip vs back zip in the forum liesl + co: bistro dress 9 years ago
I had this conversation with my mother, I wanted her to remove a zipper from the side and put it in the back so my dress was easier to get on.
This resulted in a lecture on bad underwear and no patience. She refused to do it, said it would spoil the dress line and to give myself more time getting dressed. If you watch some older movies, they…[Read more]

Janice, I LOVE my girl’s wearing other people’s sewing hand-me-downs. If no one closer claims it, I would love it and I will pay postage/combine with a fabric order from your shop.
Tildy loves Julia, she would be so excited to have it.Trixie has so many hand sewn and knitted items from all her sewing Aunties. It is very very special.

I hear you sewing sister…
Re-cut and sew pockets for a Ice Cream dress, after I attach them realise I cut the pockets from the border fabric and vice versa.Decide not to underline neck yoke, assure myself it will be firm enough, end up up cutting a jigsawing soft interfacing through the openings to add substance.
Go with a size 2T length of a…[Read more]

@justsewit, in regard to pockets with a ‘V’, I don’t 🙂
But thank you! -

I often leave the darts out of the front of my skirts and trousers as I have a round tummy.

Nicole started the topic Sewing Grumbles in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I now acknowledge that sewing an Ice Cream dress in a lurex/muslin fabric, as sheer as cobwebs, was possibly not the best idea on a disturbed nights sleep.
I will also be content without the ‘V’ on the pockets and neckline and acknowledge that pockets #2 (that replaced the pockets #1 my machine ate) are still very sweet and Tildy will not notice.
Sigh…. -

Thanks Ladies!
I will have a play after Christmas.
I pretty much live in linen tunics but I don’t like ‘tent-like’ tops. Too dangerous cooking if nothing else.
I liked the way it gave fullness from the bust down. - Load More
