I’d definitely get a daylight lamp of some description, but as to which one, it would depend on which would suit your room best 🙂 (have you posted pics?)
I have a set of French doors in my sewing room, which faces east, but my desk is on the opposite wall and the table lamp I use is not good enough – I’ve got a daylight lamp on my wish list…[Read more]

I love that first one!
I had a an expensive but pretty useless fluro light put in above my machines so I will be reading this with interest. I am pretty lucky to have a window in my sewing area but through most of summer I must have the blind down as it is too hot.
I have a bendable light over my overlocker I use for unpicking navy on…[Read more]

I don’t know if there’s really a standard–it’s more about what looks and feels right on your body. It’s probably fine–that detail is so small it’s not going to detract from the skirt once you get the length right for you. Does that help?

“I am the mother of the flower girl!” Hahaha, that is awesome, and should totally be a thing!
I confess, I would not feel comfortable with that level of matchy with my daughter, but to each their own! I am still scarred by my childhood in the 1980s. Nuff said.

I can tell you what I do, I am not sure if it is the proper way.
Lay your garment out and let it relax. Trace the pattern piece on to the garment, a sharpie is good.
Try snipping somewhere, not needed, on the garment and see how fast it unravels. If it is not too bad, cut and sew promptly. If it frays a lot, cut, zigzag edges first and then sew…[Read more] -

@mkhs – We discussed a similar option, but felt like the under shirt needed to be more fitted, plus that would involve 2 pieces { we are slow and somewhat lazy if there is a quicker way – ha! 🙂 } @Nicole you make it sound so simple! We plan to give it a try while crossing our fingers. . .and toes. . .and legs! THANK YOU both for your help!

A few years back, Liesl gave us the tip of reversing the nap of cord so it is more velvety and lush.
Her is a perfect example of how good it looks https://www.flickr.com/photos/128353028@N04/15215509103/in/pool-oliverands/The fabric almost glows.

I would button them on rather then sew them on. Also, consider adding some elastic to the back bottom edge of the strap, stretched to fit inside the strap, for ease.
For the Sketchbook ‘knicker bockers’ I would pleat the bottom of the shorts and add a cuff, like a waistband.
This is how I would attach it (but to the cuff)…[Read more]
