Aaah, it’s just the button placing template I’m missing I think, I can work without that!

Hello!
I’ve finally traced off my classic shirt pattern. I’ve discovered that I’ve already previously cut out the button planet and lost it… v annoyed with myself. Is it possible for me to use the placket from the recital blouse? I’d prefer to avoid buying another copy of the pattern.

I’ve made this once and love it and wear it often. However, I feel like my cuffs look a little scruffy. Mostly that’s my Sewing, but I wondered if I could substitute cuffs from one of the other patterns?

I’m interested in sewing the marais dress in a non stretch woven fabric. I can size up, is there anything else I would need to do? I could cut some bits on the bias, but feel this would be option rather than a requirement?
I’d welcome any thoughts and ideas, and I’d love to hear if any testers used a woven.
Thank you.

dubhels2003 started the topic Sewing for a full tummy child in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 4 years ago
My tall 7 year old daughter has a 31inch waist and 29 inch hips. She prefers to wear clothes which sit under her tummy. I’m struggling now with what to sew her as she needs skirts and shorts. Dresses are easier as we tend to go for high waisted styles.
Any suggestions got how to manage this, patterns and adjustments and fit based on experience…[Read more]

So apparently Prince Harry is going to marry Meghan Markel next weekend here in the uk. I hadn’t noticed 😉 My daughter’s school is having a royal wedding themed dress up day. She could go as a bride, as a princess, in red, white and blue etc. I’ve decided to do a dress covered in red, white and blue bunting. But a can’t decide which dress. Any…[Read more]

My boyfriend measures at the lower end of XL for neck and chest but just over the XXL waist size. How relaxed is the fit round the tummy? I feel like i need to grade to the XXL around the tummy then add a smidge more as i don’t want him to be self conscious. What’s the best way to do this? I am doing a toile so i can have a play.

@rose1234 How exciting, congratulations! I know it’s not a dress, but I had so (sew?!) much fun making the Lullaby Layette pattern for my daughters. I’d highly recommend it for a satisfying make, and a gorgeous pattern for babies. you can really personalise it too.
I haven’t sewn since moving house at the beginning of September. I do have a…[Read more]

I’m not sure myself, but I think @georgeandizzy has done this. I remember seeing some very cute versions.

dubhels2003 replied to the topic double gauze for garden party in the forum oliver + s: garden party 7 years ago
I think it would be gorgeous in double gauze. I made the top in a really light weight lawn, and that was lovely. I’ve also made the dress using something horrible and slippy topped with a flimsy nylon with jewels on it (not my fabric choices!!). For this a sewed the slippy fabric and the top fabric together as one. If your double gauze was…[Read more]

My threenager is all about zip front jersey hooded tops. She also loves pink, and anything soft. I now accept that I’m better sewing her things she likes and will wear, as opposed to what I like. I’ve seen some cerise stretch velour which she would LOVE and would be very cosy for winter. In an attempt to get her to wear anything other than…[Read more]

I love the hopscotch variation, it looks great.
I’ve just started doing some sewing for me. I started softly with a willow tank top and dress. I am so proud if myself! I want to make more for myself but I’m struggling with what I like v what might actually suit me. I don’t want to invest time in something which I then won’t wear. I’m not sure…[Read more]

I have a personal preference for ordering direct from writers, musicians etc, but I had spotted the book on pre order on amazon in the UK. I was very excited!

I thought about starting a thread for posting links to interesting creative articles, images and inspiration which the awesome Liesl could peruse while convalescing.
I came to the oliver + s forums during my first period of maternity leave and I think I read every forum entry during the middle of the night, so maybe these links will also be of…[Read more]

There’s some pretty complex sewing going on what with jeans, prom dresses and denim jackets!
I hope you manage to sort out a layette pic Susan, it’s such a lovely pattern. I’m going to lengthen a couple of bodysuits for my tall, slender nearly 3 year old. I’m a huge fan of french seams too, seems very appropriate on tender baby skin.
I’ve just…[Read more]

They pick up on so much, it’s a mirror into your own language and behaviour sometimes!
E has been in my sewing room with me today. She was playing at wrapping up a present for daddy. I asked what she wanted to wrap, and she said a pattern and some buttons. I said she could choose both. She got the buttons and after looking on my patterns she got…[Read more]

My gorgeous 21 month old hasn’t quite (or maybe has entirely!) got my name right. She wakes up and in the morning calls for her family. ‘Deedee, Daddy ‘ack (Jack), Mummymilk.’ She is now just calling me ‘Mummymilk’ the time!
I am more than the some of my parts darling!
