    I actually finished something!!!!!

I completed Liddy’s Art Museum jeans, even down to ‘distressing’ them with sand paper.

(Which I found very distressing and involved several angst ridden texts to a sewing buddy).

    She is thrilled…..

Honeymadeit you are making me laugh! My sister and I used to do that when we were both in our pre married days – go to the favourite fabric shop and just touch the fabric! I think it just adds to the creativity and allows us to indulge in our senses to inspire us.

I am up to the sleeves on the little Layette shirt – Heather Ross fabric is so perfect for this.

The weather man said it was going to windy with rain and cold! I have so been duped! I wish I had made a maxi dress for myself last night – it is going to be warm again today – the heat is in the air!

Oh, Liddy’s jeans sound fantastic and trendy! Can’t wait to see them.

Given we’re headed for 28ºC tomorrow, you guys must be even hotter there, Tamara!

Successful sewing day 🙂 I finished the Elsa costume skirt and drafted the top from the Sea Shore dress to go with it. I also made up a 2T seashore dress in brown with contrast front and back panels. This dress was so fast!

    A) Fabric porn. Love it. I feel paralyzed about buying fabric online. I am like… what is the drape like, the hand, the density of the weave? But once you buy from a line that you know is good, you can buy more confidently, like Fabric Finders, Timeless Treasures, Art Gallery, or Nashville Cottons.

Today we went Apple picking and passed by two very out of the way fabric shops. My husband was like, “no, not with the kids. Don’t hang your head out the window like a puppy dog panting after a bone.” I sniffed and said, “been there, unimpressed. Old lady quilting fabrics.” (Both times!) He was all, “We are 20 miles from the house, how have you been there?” I said, “I refuse to account for my sewing adventures.” He just laughed.

    B) Nicooooolllllle, <whining> jump rope placket makes you feel like a rock star? Is it that hard? I am looking for contrasting fabric before I start mine in a brushed combed cotton. I don’t want hard. (Yeah, yeah, you know I will do it anyway.)

Our first week of fall was the best weather all summer, if that tells ya anything. Our trees are a month ahead. While pretty, it makes me fear the weather on Halloween night. I hate when it snows on Halloween. Ugh.

But I hope everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is enjoying their “Indian Summer” as we call it.

No Jenny, not hard, it looks sooo awesome you think to yourself ‘I did that’?

Cutting out Liberty ‘thank you’ purses.

    Thanks Heidi!

I’m making progress on the Elsa coronation bodice! I’ve finished the appliqué, https://www.flickr.com/photos/73669617@N07/15189295868/in/pool-oliverands , and it’s sewn down now! I’ve added the side pieces and gold piping. Still a way to go but definitely starting to look right!

Just returned from a meeting (yes on a Sunday!!) so now I can settle in and stitch the second sleeve on the little layette shirt and get it all completed. Hopefully I will be able to start on the little puppet show tunic aswell before tomorrow.

Tomorrow is a public holiday so I have the chance to sew “big kid” clothes. Shorts are needed along with extra t shirts. We have a couple of excursions happening this week because of school holidays so will need to accommodate for both.

I also want to (finally) pleat a bishop daygown so that I can sit in the library and stitch while I wait for the kids to finish their chocolate making activity at holiday club.

Here’s the question: What SHOULD I be sewing now? Four options cut out and ready to go…

    A) Happy Homemade shirt in Art Gallery fabric I won from llama fabrics and Supergail’s blog – for the boy.

    B) Garden Party dress in Art Gallery fabric (as above) for the girl.

    C) Knight Hoodie that I’ve been meaning to make for ages. Fir the boy – I know he’ll love it.

    D) muslin of the Lisette Traveller dress to make a linen dress for me

    E) don’t sew anything but do some study for the online dermatology course I’m supposed to be doing.

Cast your votes folks, help me make up my mind!

The hoodie, considering the possible weather change.

    Good luck with the study.

I did some mending, dull but necessary.

The knight Hoodie! Totally fun, slightly ridiculous and very nessasary 🙂 And I want to hear how the pattern is, especially as I think there’s an tween/adult pattern on the way 🙂

Ok, knight hoodie it is. I thought everyone would be yelling Garden Party….

I third the hoodie because it sounds interesting (not that the others don’t of course).

I was going steady on the puppet show tunic this morning and then stopped short. The front bodice lining has gone walkabout! Either that or I didn’t actually cut one. I now have to locate the scraps and see if I can squeeze one in and then continue.

I have the layette shirt done up to the snaps – out of all the things in the tool box, I have no matching snaps or press studs so I will have to locate some little buttons instead.

Tomorrow afternoon equals working on some big kid clothes – shorts and t shirts mostly but I have to make a good outfit each for them (and myself) for an imminent event. I will endeavour to work on these for the remainder of the week.

    E) but feel free to lose my vote out of the bottom of the ballot box.

I’m in one of those states where I have a pile of mending, pile of ironing, a blog post and a half but needing proofing, and about five half done projects (not abandoned, each just at a stage where they need something — craft thread, a matching button, a certain weight of elastic). I want to stitch something freshly cut out, but am too lazy to swap thread colors when I’ll just have to swap back again this afternoon. It’s the sewing equivalent of being caught between wanting to sleep and needing to pee.

Sarvi, you made me laugh! What a great metaphor.
