I should have added more length! Apparently my older niece’s blouse *just* fits, length-wise, but both were well-received.

I do a lot of upcycling. I try to rip seams when possible, but if I know I’ll have enough fabric (if I’m turning my husband’s pants into my toddler’s pants, for instance), I’ll often just cut right next to the seams instead of ripping a faux-flat fell + serged edge. I try to match up pants pattern pieces with the corresponding part of the real…[Read more]

So, I love the idea of making kids clothes out of old clothes that I need to toss or give away and have stashed clothes away for this purpose, but I don’t actually know how to go about doing it. For example, is finding the grain of the fabric to line up your pattern pieces difficult? I was wanting to make my daughter a pair of the after-school…[Read more]

Ok, sewists, I need your help! I’m ready to send out testing packages for our next Liesl + Co patterns, and I’m looking for two specific sizes:
I need someone who wears a C-cup (2″ different between your high bust and full bust) for a shirt pattern.
I’m also looking for someone who wears a size 16, 18, or 20 to test a shorts and a skirt pattern.…[Read more]

That’s a great idea! I do seem to always have a few extra blocks lying around and don’t know what to do with them, even though I’m not a big quilter. And after my daughter’s recent birthday, I felt just awful about the enormous pile of gift wrap we recycled. A nice reusable gift bag is much better!

I just made 3 3D pinwheel blocks to see what they were like. I was wondering what I would do with 3 random patchwork blocks.
Then I realized they were the size of the whole front on the LTTS drawstring bag! So I have turned one of them into a drawstring bag and have the rest of the fabric for the other two 🙂
I thought others might have a similar…[Read more] -

There is an errata notice for that pattern that might address this issue:
Errata
In the first printing of this pattern there was a minor error in the instructions. In the second column on page 4, the bottom two illustrations have the fabric right side-fabric wrong side shading reversed. Where you see the fabric right side illustrated,… -

My book arrived today! It is good timing as I have to have this week off due to severe tonsillitis 🙁

I believe the illustration is incorrect – if you follow the text instructions, the method described is her preferred method for attaching bias binding. The illustration should show the wrong side of the fabric instead of the right side. I was just following that same step a few hours ago and used the text for guidance instead of the picture.

I am almost finished sewing the Carousel dress for my one year old granddaughter, but I have a question concerning the neckline. In step 2, the instructions say “with the right side of the binding facing the wrong side of the dress, pin…..”, but if you look at the illustration, it shows the wrong side of the binding facing the right side of the…[Read more]

@peggyw all I can suggest is this: Measure the bare chest of the intended kid, then measure again with all the expected underlayers.
Remember, the jacket is sized to have the quilted vest underneath.
If you’d kid will wear a singlet, top, sweater or two, quilted vest and jacket thdn you’ll probably need all that ease.
If you’re making this as a…[Read more] -

There’s a BIG discrepancy between the finished coat measurements provided and the measurements given for choosing the pattern size. For example, on a size 5 (for my grand daughter) the finished chest measurement is 9″ larger than the chest size chart measurement. Does it run that big?
