I think that would be cute! Sort of like a camp shirt, right?

I know it’s only a couple of days away but I have this urge to go with a Valentine’s theme for my daughter to wear to kindy on Thursday.
She wears a top that acts as a “uniform” but we are allowed to use any kind of bottoms. It’s summer and will be hot on Thursday (41 degrees c).
I’m thinking of using the music class skirt and appliqué hearts…[Read more]

Never mind….I have added half an inch to the end of each hem facing pattern piece and recut. It fits perfectly now.

I’m having the same problem as Heidi had with the hem facing. My dress is a size 6 as well. Did she find a solution?

I’m sewing up my very first bistro dress and I’m considering a subtitle plaid. How well do you think this pattern would suit a slightly drapy rayon/cotton plaid?

Wanda started the topic Using Lisette PJ pattern for non-PJs in the forum Sewing for Yourself 5 years ago
I’ve been looking for a pattern for a drop shoulder short-sleeve button down top for my adult daughter, who wants a loose fit with no darts, and it occurs to me that the top of the Lisette PJs (Butterick B6296) is pretty much exactly what she is looking for. Is there any reason that I shouldn’t go with that, leaving out the obvious PJ tells (the…[Read more]

Dixie replied to the topic Popover shoulder straps without bows in the forum oliver + s: popover 5 years ago
You know, that makes me think, Liesl — I hadn’t thought of how you could actually make the (essentially) bias tape into a loop before sewing it on at all. I was trying to work it out technically in my head — how I could make a loop without having an awkward lumpy seam at the top. Thanks @liesl and @lightningmcstitch!

Sure, you can always copy the armhole and sleeve from another pattern. It’s not an easy process, but it’s certainly possible. I hope that helps!

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Fitting Hollywood Trousers in the forum liesl + co: hollywood trousers 5 years ago
You can lengthen and shorten the rise and the lengthen/shorten line on the pattern piece. Tough to say how much to add–you could either measure another pair of trousers or measure your rise and add 1″ and see how that goes. You can also sew the rise longer by scooping it more in the rise as you sew, and that would be a way to alter the pair you…[Read more]

Or you could just measure the length that you want the armholes to be and cut the bias to that length and sew it into a loop…

Lots of options:
I’m sure @juliamom2009 used fold over elastic.
Or, you could make long tubes of fabric and then put elastic inside them, like gathered straps.
My daughter just requested a jumpsuit like that so she doesn’t have to re-tie the bows with every toilet break. -

Has anyone come up with alternatives to the tied bows for the popover shoulder straps? They seem to catch on things and knock/rub against the chin at times.

The small size All Day Shirt with added length fit very well, but the neck was too small and he couldn’t get the collar button done up.
What pattern alterations could I do to give him more room in the neck?
Thanks,

I made one pair of Hollywood Trousers and love them but they are a little tight in the crotch. Should I lengthen the rise ? If so, by how much ?
Thanks

From looking at diagrams for high/round/full bottom adjustment, I think it’s best described as an FBA for the backside.
It’s the same slash, pivot and spread as an FBA but applied to the middle(ish) part of the centre back seam.
Does that make sense? -

Hi, I have just sewn up a pair of the Soho shorts for my daughter and they look great with the exception of the back hem being higher than the front when worn.
She has a round/full bottom and so I guess it is a case of making a slight adjustment so it sits level. But what do I need to do, and ideas? - Load More
