LOL I feel like I am waiting for one of my grands to be born. Justsewit 22 days and counting and not in hospital, Praise God. Blood grand not until May. Hope it is also a girl. I am giving myself the layette pattern for Christmas. I will be borrowing ideas from you and Nicole for this new little.

Thank you! I will try that. Glad to hear it might look ok. I was so frustrated at my stupidity!!

I do a lot of darning by using a small piece of soft interfacing ironed to the back, over the hole, and then I hand sew it with a matching thread making sure not to pull it too tight. A good press afterwards flattens things down.
Often it will just look like a slub in the fabric.

I did something stupid and now have a very very small hole in a somewhat obvious place in a jersey knit dress.
It’s quite small, just one stitch worth but it is there 🙁
What do I do? Put interfacing on the back? Something else? Try to come up with a patch to put there?
Thanks -

Thanks for the word of caution, Sarvi. I completely agree about being careful around that very sharp blade! I tighten the blade when I use it in this way, so it does not rotate. It’s a sort of sideways scrape over the stitches. My fingers aren’t near, and I’m applying very little pressure. But I do always bear in mind how dangerous they are, and I…[Read more]

Ha! Thank you McStitch, pretty sure any yummy treats would not survive my sewing room in sufficient numbers to be presented as a gift.
I’ll have a peek at the Amy Butler also, thank you Robin!

Oooh, rotary blades are so super sharp, please do be very careful. I just use a seam ripper for everything. It’s a bit slower than ripping out an ordinary seam as there’s more thread, but it’s still just thread loops so the concept is the same. Have you got one of these things?

Good morning, kmac0107. I used a narrow zigzag in thread matching the lace (didn’t change the bobbin colour) to hold the outer edge down. I was concerned that the lace would curl up and need ironing which doesn’t always happen in busy households, especially with pjs! I also washed and ironed the lace before sewing it on.

I love the lace, on the pink pajamas on Flickr, by Marlene. I would like to try this and I’m curious if the lace will curl up when it is washed? If so would I hand stitch the outside edge of the lace?

Here are the last two photos. For some reason, the photos in the original post aren’t in the right order. Sorry!

Okay, I lied. It’s not easy like eating ice cream. It’s more like swallowing pills — easy enough, but somewhat distasteful.
So, I got up early this morning to whip out a little Seashore Sundress. This will be the third time I’ve made up this cute pattern, so I guess I’m getting careless. Long story short, I sewed the pocket wrong-side-up. Not…[Read more]
