  • Good for you Meleliza! Actually, I have the Edwardian daygown I made for a Royal Agricultural show a few years ago handy should it be that time runs away from me. It’s actually longer than I thought it would be but so very very pretty.

But I really want to make Mignonette before she starts walking and running away from me! And then I can put it…[Read more]

Thanks Sarvi! I ll check it out.

  • Easter sewing already done! By which I mean I tried on last years dress and it still fits. 😉 I can’t even be bothered to let out the hem.

Sometimes I really hate living in the bush! We have had no power since Monday night 9pm. The generator threw a wobbly when we tried to wash dishes (using the machine) and has been touchy ever since. One air conditioner going flat out and we are all sent to bed at 7.30 so we can have cool bedrooms!

Aching for the power to return so that I can do…[Read more]

  • Giggle! That’s the Aussie humour coming out! Both Susan and Gail are very talented and lovely people. Nothing worse than a cranky embroidery instructor – they definitely fall in the “happy” group.

I second Joi’s classes. They may be a little confusing to start with (if you are used to the other methods of altering patterns) but they will make a heap of sense when practise and apply the method to fit your body. I actually get better results now than before.

  • I am watching Joi Mahon’s fit class on Craftsy. Love it and can’t wait to apply it. I do love Craftsy as I can watch over and over and pause and pause again.

  • Hello folks! Wondering if anyone has recommendations of an online class (or other) for teaching measuring and fit. My dream is to have someone knowledgeable measure me and tell me my fit issues but a 4 day fit class for multiple hundreds of dollars is not in the budget. I make almost all my own clothes, but I still feel like it is very touch and…[Read more]

Have you checked to see whether Shaukat will deliver to India? They don’t charge VAT when shipping elsewhere.

I have a jacket just like that one that I bought in my early 20’s. It doesn’t fit anymore but I refuse to let go of it. As I remember it wasn’t cheap! Maybe now I could make a new one.

@dubhels2003 that’s awesome! I do wish I could get liberty fabric on India!

I love the dress too. I see lots of flattering things for someone of my shape and size. EG: a v neck, even with the tab is flattering for shorter people who don’t have lots of room between neck/chin and chest. The pleats at the chest should hopefully accommodate the double D girls. And yet it is “dressy” enough for work. The waist at the…[Read more]

I love the dress with the cross-over bodice! I’m going to get that. And the princess-seamed top with the trousers is very nice. Love that it comes with different cup sizes. I checked it out on the Butterick site to see the back view, and it’s great.

  • I Like both of those. I have a children’s corner one that is just like the Anna Maria, except it has smocking. I really love Hillary with all those sleeve options. I will really need to find some less expensive similar fabric to mock up various sleeves. I’m finding it difficult to visualize how I want the fabric to behave.

  • That’s fantastic, Deb…..and I’ll never be able to look at big dual axel trucks the same :). There are lots of those hips down south!!
