Cooking and Baking 10 years agoDoes anyone have a favorite Bombay potatoes recipie? Hubby had some at a restaurant that also had chickpeas included. We’ve been trying to reproduce it and had some great dinners but still haven’t found a favorite.

My sway back probably not as much as yours, but have the same struggle with rtw pants. I’ve had good luck with Jessica Simpson brand jeans lately. They seem to sit higher and the waistband curves up in the center back. Though, they are miles too long, and I have to hem them if I want to wear them without boots!

I made some with a stretch drill which worked very well but I think the quilting cotton would not have enough ‘give’.

I am having to follow on my phone now, my husband tipped a glass of wine in my laptop and it is obviously tee-total.
The tech guru is hopeful he can save my photos.

I think I can help. I do this for my Twins as they have tiny waists and curvy botties.
#1 Unpick the back waistband about two inches either side of the centre back seam.
#2 Unpick the centre back seam as far as needed.
#3 Try on jeans and re-fit, pinning out excess.
#4 Re-sew centre back seam, fit again, adjust, trim, neaten and topstitch.
#5 Cut…[Read more] -

I had an idea to try cotton like quilting cotton for the pant legs and knit for the waist. Anyone try that?
Just sewed up a pair in Kaufman Laguna knit for my 2year old. So cute!

I found this *awesome* illustration that quite defines my figure (see image). My waist is a size 4, my hips are a size 8. However, it’s not a fix that involves a slight taper down the hip line, it’s really the *massive* jump from my back to the protruding shelf, er, derriere that is nearly impossible to fit. The front and side hips are always…[Read more]

mcholley1 replied to the topic Ideas for using patches? in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I’ve been thinking of finding some patches to use on the back yoke of buttondown shirts for K. What about heavy a denim shirt shirt that can be worn like a light jacket with patches on it?

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. I didn’t mean to start controversy! I personally enjoy all the strong opinions here in the forum. The reason I posted is because a light dress covered in a down puffer or my husbands coat is exactly the look I want to avoid. I also don’t want to look out of season for the time of year. You all have given…[Read more]

50 in May is not summer, it’s spring. Spring means lighter colors, pretty florals and flowy dresses. I stand by a pretty dress with a wrap. Although a really dressy pair of trousers and a lovely blouse could work too. Or a maxi dress. Is it an outside wedding? Will you be walking there? If not, I wouldn’t worry about being cold. A room full of…[Read more]

It is indeed a front loader. I love the approach of saying what you see, it’s completely beguiling. Well, it is until she says something really embarrassing in public, then I won’t like it quite so much!
I am thinking that next time she asks ‘Me watch Peppa Pig on the television?’ I might wilfully mishear it as ‘Me wash Peppa Pig in the…[Read more]

Isn’t it amazing when they are too young to have their language in a box and they circumlocute. Think about it… washyvision is PERFECT for what she sees!
It reminds me of a conversation I just had with Gigi.
We were discussing her hair cut and she wanted a pixie. She’s 5 and had 3 hair cuts and not because she has flowing locks but rather…[Read more]

Last night my nearly 2.5yo shadow was ‘helping’ with some chores. She got very animated, asking ‘Me put the sugar in the washyvision Mummy?’. It took her running away and returning with her beloved Frozen pants to understand that she wanted to put the powder in the washing machine to wash them. I love washyvision.

I’m so with you on that one @meleliza! I keep a few baskets with the larger pieces and they’ve become all sort of fun projects and trims on other projects. I’ll often cut and prepare bias trim with the scraps so it’s ready when I need it. Remaining scraps go to a painter friend who uses them to wipe his brushes or to local schools for art classes.…[Read more]

another reason it’s better to have leftovers: what if something goes wrong and you need to cut a new piece? Even the best of us make mistakes.
I’d definitely rather have a little left over than to make a mistake and not have enough to fix it. I always seem to find a way to use the scraps. For a while it was baby clothes, but now it’s bias trim,…[Read more]
