Thank you @liesl Gibson , I will, it was a lot of fun.
My favourite moment was one of the uncles dragging Hugo’s old go-cart up and down the track with passenger after passenger while 30 odd whooping children ran after them, like a noisy parade.
The no gifts/bring a salad worked beautifully. The mix of delicious food was wonderful and we ate the…[Read more]

Nicole replied to the topic Where to add length in the forum liesl + co: everyday skirt 9 years ago
I have never lengthened a skirt that much Charlene but I would consider adding length in two places. I would divide the the panel into thirds and add the length at these lines.
Does that make sense? So you don’t end up with too exaggerated an A-line.It is a lovely skirt.

Thank you all so much for your advice and help. I made the cake and saved a small fortune!
@Ann-Maree, I used your excellent idea of two cakes. Whilst Hugo and Co were making speeches and ‘cutting the cake’ a good friend and I were cutting and plating up the other cake, close by.
By the time speeches were done, cake was ready to be eaten.Thank you!

I have a lot of Christmas sewing planned, whether I get there is another thing.
Is it just me or does ‘linky party’ bug anyone else? Even my Macbook doesn’t want to type it.Link up party, maybe?

Nicole replied to the topic What are you sewing now? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
Hello Lovelies, so nice to read that people are sewing.
Tilly received a last minute 6th Birthday invite and the little girls mother asked me to sew something so nicely, I couldn’t say no. She requested something ‘Kardashian’ style and it took a wee bit of research (by the Twins) to find out that there is a children’s label.
Luckily, I had a…[Read more]

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Sewing with Rayon- Fabric Care in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I’m with the group: I wash and dry my fabric before cutting and then line dry after sewing. The wash and dry is a just-in-case precaution–because every once in a while something sneaks into the drier. But rayon is a pretty durable fabric, for the most part, so you should be fine with machine washing.

Yum, can you get agave at the supermarket?

Nicole replied to the topic Altering for large body type in the forum oliver + s: garden party 9 years ago
Try doing this http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/garden-party-dress-part-two.html except for adding the waistband. Baste the side seams, fit and adjust yours gathers and then unpick the side seams and add the waist band.
Then you can make it as big as you need too.xx N

That sounds like a fantastic solution, @mychurchdoll! I was also thinking that a bias binding could be really pretty and simple for a very thick fabric that won’t cooperate with hemming.

Thank you @shokomoo, you are sweet. We are campaigning Liesl to make a dungarees pattern.
My sewing gal-pal @ock-du-spock tracked down the same pattern in a larger size.It is lovely fabric.

Not to go against @with-love-heidi, she sews for a plethora of lucky children, I would only add to the back if she is really overweight.
Chubby little girls tend to have big tummies, which this dress would disguise well, if you add to the back it may get ‘tenty’ and lose the original look. -

I wonder if small hands are an advantage? My BIL used to get me to pull lambs as my hands were smaller.
Have fun shopping, seriously jealous.

@sarvi it is awesome. Jed calibrated it yesterday and we are having a cool snap so it is perfect baking weather.
I need a new kettle now, my old one looks very grungy on the hob.

Great ideas @ann-maree.
How frustrating @rhythmtyagi, it may soften yet or you could try giving it a scrub with a nailbrush and some yellow soap. That may help remove the dressing.
