Nicole, if there’s anything left in the fabric budget I just got an email from The Fabric Store as their VIP sale starts tomorrow. 40% off fabric, and I have a rostered morning off. Could be fun!

I ran the tape measure around the finished dress, at waist height, definitely not scientific.

*Not a science*
I made the size 10 for one of my daughters and there is 42” (approx) of fullness through the waist.
I hope that helps.

I rather like this about the O+S patterns, they are not a ‘fast’ sew (well, a few pieces are). However, the techniques encourage one to sew better.
My children have predominately hand made, lots of hand-me-downs helps, the best thing is you realise that don’t need so many clothes. My older Twins have purchased a few things lately with their own…[Read more] -

Little ones tend to pretty up and down, even chubby ones. I would go by hip for pull on shorts *as a rule*. Sorry not to be more help.

*I haven’t made them yet*
Matilda is 5, her waist is 19′ and her hip is 21′, she is the height of a 4 year old. I would generally cut her a size 4 in pull on shorts.
Being pull on elastic waist type shorts I think a bit of ease would come to no harm.
BUT I have not made them and i don’t know if there is a sizing chart.
Is this any help?

Well, this is number 6 for me and I am due in September. 🙂
I was thinking the Empire line would work over a belly, I may add a little more to the centre panel and gather it in.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as a dress, it just may end up quite full, a long tunic would be lovely and the stripes would be very flattering.
As for underlining, you…[Read more] -

Robin,
Remaining joyful in the present of the sewing is so (sew) important. I am in a race with no one. I like goals/resolutions because they give me ideas of where to go, but don’t feel bad about never achieving them. They are more like ideals and ideas than carved in stone moments. Although, right now I got some pretty darn good princess…[Read more] -

That dress (the cap-sleeve version) looks very much like my wedding dress! Which I bought on eBay, ha. I love that tip about the flannel sheet on the cutting mat – I am so doing that in the future.
Janice, I think you could absolutely do it if you and she decide that is what you want. How exciting! - Load More
