54mm at the house and still raining. No damage at the buildings but Murray has gone for a muddy bike ride to inspect what further fences and floodgates are down. Very windy but we still have power which I made the most of while Chloe was asleep and worked on hemming the tunic.

So today we have perfect sewing weather and we are going to make the…[Read more]

We’re about to go to the fabric store to get some lining for the roller skate dress. Chris just said to Audrey:
“Are you ready to go out? We’re going to Hancock’s.”

And Audrey’s reply: “I don’t like to go to Hancock’s, how about I stay here instead?”

Oh dear. My three year old wants to stay home by herself!

  • Decision made, I’m going roller skate. Decision so final that I bought the digital pattern, and Chris has printed it at work.

  • What on earth were you doing online at that time, Nicole?? Or was it feed time?

  • I hope you are OK when the cyclone comes through and that it brings you rain!

Wow, everyone is very busy at the moment!

Good luck with the cyclone, Tamara. I really need to keep an eye on the Australian news. I feel very isolated here. At home we watched the ABC news nearly every night, but we aren’t watching any news at the moment. Trying to navigate the local TV channels is interesting! I’m mostly just watching instant…[Read more]

  • I’ve lined the Secret Agent Trench in fleece which worked very well.

I had a few ideas but I say’go with the penguins’

  • Very easy to put on, and it’s polar fleece, so no need to finish seams. I folded up the bottom edge and zig-zagged it to hem, but you could even leave it raw. From memory, I made it a bit small, and just slashed it open and zig-zagged an extra triangle of fleece in. Very forgiving fabric, and from the audience no-one would be able to see detail…[Read more]

  • Ok, this probably won’t be very helpful, but I have to add it! We did a Mary Poppins theme a few years ago when Audrey was about 8 months. I was Mary Poppins, Chris was the chimney sweep, and Audrey was a baby penguin. The hat idea from the penguin could possibly be adapted for your costumes.

Gosh! I think I need one handed typing lessons from the looks of the last post.

Making tracks with the tunic and also working on a matching bonnet. I like the brim folded back look on the purl soho bonnet.

I am hoping to get the majority done before this cyclone hits us (yes aparently it is coming this far south!) and then I could do any…[Read more]

  • I just finished the leopard hide and seek dress. I enjoyed this much more than I expected, it comes together so well 🙂 I skipped all the top stitching this time as the combination of pinwale courduroy and velvet didn’t seem to want it. I love top stitching and can’t wait to sew one with oodles of top stitching. This pattern seems to call out for it 🙂
