So I measured the children yesterday – the two biggies that is. I was referring to the body measurements chart on the Jalie patterns I am using to make some warm clothing (Noah in particular). He fits into what is a size 14 for chest and hips but is a small man’s size for the waist. He keeps saying he needs to lose weight but a growth spurt (and…[Read more]

Nicole replied to the topic Can I use woven bias fabric to bind edge of knit? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
Do you mean an envelope style neck? Where the back comes over the front at the shoulders and opens up to allow dressing?
You can use a woven binding but remember, that it will not be that stretchy so you will need to make sure it will fit over babies head, just with the envelope style opening.
I hope that is some help.

Karen, wouldn’t try and re cut it, just make it and they will grow and fit into it. If it’s only one size to big I’d be tempted to give it to them and they grow into it 🙂

I agree, rolled hem on the left and an adjustable zipper foot on the right. Probably for a low shank machine 🙂

I agree with Robin. The on the right would work for piping, also, or anything where you need to sew very close to something that’s not flat.

Liesl Gibson started the topic anyone want to hold a sample sale? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
Hello everyone! I have a crazy question and I’m just going to put it out there in case anyone want to take me up on it:
We have a large number of samples left over from pattern development and photo shoots, and I need to clear out some space in the studio. Over the years we’ve talked about holding a sample sale, but our workload is always so big…[Read more]

Here’s my guesses. The one on the left is for rolled hems and the one on the right is a zipper foot.

I am currently printing and sticking various Jalie pdf patterns together in the hope that I can find something matching Noah’s size. He badly needs winter clothes and his birthday is on Saturday so I thought I would attempt to use these patterns to make him something. If they work, I will be measuring the husband and the workman aswell! There will…[Read more]

Hi Harmony — can you try posting a link to a pic of the feet? I tried to see if there was a broken link in your post that I could fix for you, but all I’m seeing right now is the plain text of your post.

Here’s a tutorial on changing the Lady Skater pattern to sleeveless. It has info and pictures on the armhole changes and binding. I think it would also be applicable to the hopscotch.

Looking forward to seeing it when it’s done 🙂 -

Oh yes it is very similar. That one is called Sailor boy – made it for a certain young man who is turning ten on Saturday (when he was a baby of course!)

I’m loving the idea of a mini city stroll skirt!
I spent the day with a friend making a pattern for a dress for her. She has some lovely vintage fabric with large yellow roses. She has chosen a fitted princess seamed bodice with pleated Aline skirt with 3/4 length sleeves. Thankfully the dress is one Ottobre pattern and the sleeves are…[Read more] -

beachmom replied to the topic Unwanted Fabric. What to do? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I used to shop unwanted fabric around…asking sewing friends if they were interested, offering it to schools, posting it on freecycle and/or craigslist. But it involved a lot of effort and when I’m ready to get rid of something, I want it gone. Now I drop it off at our local thrift shop.;)

Did they save all of the special smocked things that William and Harry wore? I think I remember this ne one of them many years ago – through the eyes of a child. He is a beautiful looking child but then look at the parents!
