Getting back into the sewing groove finally, though it’s hard to force myself down into the basement to do so (no windows there). I just finished up the birthday princess dress marathon. Sadly, I have really grown to despise sewing princess dresses.
I have had a Playtime dress cut out for older DD for ages but it sits, unseen. Got 90 percent…[Read more]

Since we’ve moved, I’m in the basement (windowless, sob) too, Cybele. I find that I sew much less 🙁 Part of it is that I do have a great deal less time to sew than I used to, and part of it is that I hate being in a windowless space. I have grand plans to hang some tapestries on the walls and decorate the exposed beam ceiling with twinkle…[Read more]

My son would adore the train print in his – train addict that he is. But unfortunately he has outgrown the school days pattern.
Mine is still in the works. I will get to it soon I hope.

Oh Jay you sound like me! The plan is very definitely there but not exactly implemented – as planned!
I attached the poppers today. I plan to take photos of the finished items shortly. I just have the Cape Ann Bodysuit to do. I found it so much easier wrangling the elastic through those little awkward spots and then doing some quick edgestitching…[Read more]

Hi Margery, I had to giggle at your DUI shopping, I have too stated, in the past, wine/internet=no!
I am no techno guru but creating an account means you can keep track of your PDF purchases, I am not sure about paper ones.
Someone more tech savvy will jump in, I am sure. There are printable lists available (I will hunt out the link for you)…[Read more]

I’ve had great success with Snap Source products. Their Snapsetter is pretty much fool proof and their Snaps are good quality. Oliver + S sell a Snapsetter and snaps.

Ok I have never had such a hard time threading elastic as I have just now with one of the legs of the Cape Ann bodysuit. I had to perform surgery and unpick part of the edgstitching to extract the head of a safety pin which got stuck! And I think the next one I make will have trimmed side seams because that was a nightmare to get through.

My sewing room (I can officially call it that now) has four windows and a glass sliding door so there is no shortage of natural light. Unfortunately it gets very very hot in there so the air con goes on the majority of the time except in deep winter when I can give it a rest, either rug up or sit under a window to warm up.
I need curtains because…[Read more]

The snaps sold by Oliver+S are fantastic, I can thoroughly recommend them.
However, you could definitely sew in some poppers and then sew a mock button over the top.I have not done that with this pattern but I have on many other garments and it works fine.

Justine, seeing snow would be a treat – it was for me. But masses of snow such as what our forums friends (and strangers) are experiencing would be quite a shock.
I am assuming you live no where near snow fields? Well neither do I but I have a hankering to take the family over to just experience snow in the way I remember it. Lovely soft white…[Read more]
