I cut a PlayTime dress size 2T with the length of a size 4 from 1 metre of Kokka linen. AND it was a directional print.
*BUT I had to cut the pockets from another fabric.* -

I made a suede version for Tildy and used brass drizabone studs.
I washed that quite a few times in the machine (on a wool wash with shampoo and conditioner) and the suede is still in good repair. -

My husband made a valid point, just hitch ’em up when they are wearing disposables.

I am sorry Alison, I worded that badly.
I do add length to the top of the waist band, often I size up. So, yes, I add length.
I am sorry, that was all me! -

When I make bottoms bigger I add to the waistband and the centre back seam.
Could you work backwards from there?
Sorry not to be more help. -

Match the curved edges at the bottom of the pocket. Leave a opening to turn the pocket. The longer pocket piece will fold over towards the back of the pocket.
Does that help? -

You are so right. I figured it was me as I am a computer moron.
I end up just scrolling through pages looking for posts. -

I am wondering what could be done to improve the search function? I just searched for the Fabric Scrooge thread using the forum search box – I typed it in several different ways, in quotation marks, without quotation marks, and it wouldn’t come up at all. I was able to find it easily by typing “Oliver+S fabric scrooge” into Google so it’s not…[Read more]

I had 21 inches of 56″ wide twill, out of which I was determined to make a pair of Field Trip cargos for my son. I managed to cut all the 18-24 month pieces out of that fabric except for the cargo pockets themselves (and the waistband facing which I would have used a lighter fabric for anyway). He’s 1 – I figure he doesn’t need the cargo pockets anyway.

Thank you Todd.
I really don’t like snaps, I usually do buttons but if they are Liesl endorsed….. -

No problems at all!
Happy to have you here!
I would add the ruffle to the front and pin and stitch the blinding over the top of it. That would give an ‘up’ ruffle.
To add a ruffle pointing down the leg could be trickier, or you could finish the shorts as per instructions and then add a gathered piece to the inside, baste it and then topstitch it…[Read more] -
