Yup, I just tried it, and oddly, the first sleeve came out nicer than the second. I like being able to tuck in a little bit of contrast fabric there in the underlap. The Music Class blouse I’m making is very simple otherwise, no extras, but I did tuck in a slightly contrasting fabric just in that one spot. I don’t think it’ll ever show in the…[Read more]

Ha! Who knew there was still some of it out there! It’s a nice quality, so I can see why a shirtmaker would like it.
Are you going to tackle the two-piece sleeve placket? It does look nice if you have the patience to fiddle with it.

I was looking for a tutorial on drafting a sleeve placket (similar to the shirt front placket on the Jump Rope) and look, it’s City Weekend!

She did! Around a mouthful of breakfast cereal, too, it was great.

Jill, I did just this when I made my Evel Knievel jumpsuit, and I’m sure Jessica did the same with her Beat It jacket. Both are on the blog if you search for those key words.
To make it work I think you’ll need to take out the V though, as otherwise it would pull badly (and pucker at the bottom) when it’s closed. If you fill in the V part then you…[Read more] -

I really enjoyed your description @brenda1652. Our stock is far more at risk of dehydration and bush fires.

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoCan you believe Easter is a little over 2 months away?!?! Anyone have any plans to incorporate heirloom sewing and embroidery into their Easter sewing? And, if so…how?
-
Gosh, I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon! I’d love to include some embroidered details and maybe lace insertion — does that count as an heirloom technique?
-
Yes, it’s so early this year! The first step is to see if last year’s Easter Dress fits. I hope so, but she has recently gone through a growth spurt. It had lace and pintucks in the bodice and around the skirt.
-
Sarvi….ABSOLUTELY!! Both embroidery and lace insertions are heirloom {in our book}! Sounds like a great plan, Meleliza…start with what you’ve got, and go from there! As for us, we know what we WANT to do, but if it gets done is yet to be determined.

I can’t do it right now, but if folks don’t mind waiting a little bit I’ll start up groups for cooking and for fiber club. Thanks, Todd and Mr Minnesota!
