Do you generally do a usb back up Nicole? Or how do you back the photos up generally?
I have all my photos on the ipad but don’t trust cloud. So when I go to “empty out” the camera, I download onto the computer and back up the photo file to the usb.
We had one computer die on us a couple of years ago (thanks to too many storms) and I didn’t do…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoDoes anyone have a favorite Bombay potatoes recipie? Hubby had some at a restaurant that also had chickpeas included. We’ve been trying to reproduce it and had some great dinners but still haven’t found a favorite.

My sway back probably not as much as yours, but have the same struggle with rtw pants. I’ve had good luck with Jessica Simpson brand jeans lately. They seem to sit higher and the waistband curves up in the center back. Though, they are miles too long, and I have to hem them if I want to wear them without boots!

Nicole replied to the topic Has anyone tried quilting cotton for the pants? in the forum oliver + s: nature walk 10 years ago
I made some with a stretch drill which worked very well but I think the quilting cotton would not have enough ‘give’.

I am having to follow on my phone now, my husband tipped a glass of wine in my laptop and it is obviously tee-total.
The tech guru is hopeful he can save my photos.

I think I can help. I do this for my Twins as they have tiny waists and curvy botties.
#1 Unpick the back waistband about two inches either side of the centre back seam.
#2 Unpick the centre back seam as far as needed.
#3 Try on jeans and re-fit, pinning out excess.
#4 Re-sew centre back seam, fit again, adjust, trim, neaten and topstitch.
#5 Cut…[Read more] -

I’ve been thinking of finding some patches to use on the back yoke of buttondown shirts for K. What about heavy a denim shirt shirt that can be worn like a light jacket with patches on it?

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. I didn’t mean to start controversy! I personally enjoy all the strong opinions here in the forum. The reason I posted is because a light dress covered in a down puffer or my husbands coat is exactly the look I want to avoid. I also don’t want to look out of season for the time of year. You all have given…[Read more]

Isn’t it amazing when they are too young to have their language in a box and they circumlocute. Think about it… washyvision is PERFECT for what she sees!
It reminds me of a conversation I just had with Gigi.
We were discussing her hair cut and she wanted a pixie. She’s 5 and had 3 hair cuts and not because she has flowing locks but rather…[Read more]

I’m so with you on that one @meleliza! I keep a few baskets with the larger pieces and they’ve become all sort of fun projects and trims on other projects. I’ll often cut and prepare bias trim with the scraps so it’s ready when I need it. Remaining scraps go to a painter friend who uses them to wipe his brushes or to local schools for art classes.…[Read more]

These are all great ideas, thank you! I think the patches are too big for a strap for a child (they’re about the size of my palm) but I bet if I made a messenger bag for my husband they’d work great for that.
And yes, a vest or messenger bag would be spot on, and could be used both as part of a costume and as part of more regular gear.
Thanks!…[Read more]

Yes, Sarvi! A few years ago I purchased a pattern and yardage for a pair of PJ pants from a well-known pattern company that’s well respected within the industry. It was meant to be a very quick sew for my sister, who was about to be hospitalized and needed some TLC. And I could have just cried with frustration when the yardage was more than 1/2…[Read more]

Very well explained, Todd!
Actually, there’s one piece of the puzzle that Todd hasn’t included in his description of the process and which would certainly account for a discrepancy between the yardage chart and the minimum amount of fabric you actually need. That piece is this: I try to use one cutting layout for as many sizes as possible. I…[Read more]
