I have to endure big bang theory alot! Murray claims it helps him to sleep! I want to kick the tv out the door because it keeps me awake!
Another program I liked was Once upon a time. It was a nice twist on the use of fairy tale characters.
And Maleficent, even though rated M, I let my kids watch it because it was such a great story. Of course I…[Read more]

I find this really challenging. Not just because it is hard to find stuff that one might personally deem as ethical, but because what is ethical?
Ethical as a labor practice means definitely European, US, or UK (former UK) manufacturing.
But ethical in environmental practices? Is organic ethical? I’ve read somewhere that the water usage of…[Read more]

We have foxtel which, when I get the chance gives me the opportunity to watch Outlander (can’t wait for the new series), Grimm (hubby loves this one), Our Zoo, Call the Midwife and lately, Frankie. I am excited about the new Hart of Dixie series starting Thursday.
At the moment it is an episode of The block triple threat and then Big bang theory,…[Read more]

Ellen the music class blouse was one of the first patterns I used. It was and continues to be a favourite. In fact I have just purchased some Liberty earmarked for a long sleeved version but I have the other things mentioned above to tackle first. I tried making one with bound seams and my machine refused to do some of the buttonholes because it…[Read more]

Haha! No, I meant I lack the skill to do French seams as well as you do! But I couldn’t resist mentioning your other favorite topic, hehe.

I believe I was the person Nicole mentioned above — at any rate I am the lucky recipient of an exquisite silk dress fitting that description. Nicole is right, while the bound seams at the armscye are gorgeous to behold (and very comfortable on that particular dress because of the fit) oftentimes the most practical solution for that specific seam…[Read more]

No sewing today but eventually this week will have me finishing off the corduroy puppet show dress I had started, but not before I do some tidying up in the sewing room first. I tend to get messy when I create!
Then it is gritting the teeth and getting into “ball dress” making mode. And then I can get back to some fun baby sewing again.

Is it a home-sewn dress? Or a commercial product? The original image comes from an Etsy page selling the little bow in the girl’s hair, so I don’t think that whoever made or manufactures that dress can see your question.
Here’s a crinkled gauze that’s inexpensive and might work — give it a try and see what you come up with! Good…[Read more]

Hi Cheri, I could be mistaken but that looks like an inspiration photo used to show how sleeves look with pom pom trim added to the sleeve edge. I think you could achieve a similar look by extending the pattern piece for the gathered section to dress length, but I’m afraid I have not made the Garden Party so I don’t know how it’s constructed and…[Read more]
