What about using the sketchbook pattern for the top and merge it with the bottom of the lullaby bodysuit?
Of course this would only work if you want the sizes larger than 6m.
Another option would be to to add the collar and placket from the Jumprope dress. This would again only work for the sizes larger than 6m.
Now it sounds so cute, I might…[Read more] -

Thank you! -

I did pretty poorly on my resolutions — my organization is worse, if anything, and I have one piece for my advent calendar, made in January, I think. I did finally make successful forays into sewing for myself, however, which felt really huge. I didn’t resolve to cut into more of my ‘good stuff’ but I did do it and was really happy. I think this…[Read more]

This year I am going to continue to focus on the quality of what I make. I started doing that this year and my sewing is improving no end.
I am going to find my teenage me and embrace having a go at sewing for me. I didn’t care about how complicated the pattern was I would try it and wear it, pretty much regardless of what the end product was…[Read more]

Happy New Year!
I had a lovely night with friends. We went into the city to watch the 9pm fireworks. I love living in a small city, the traffic was still very manageable immediately after the fireworks finished. 🙂
Nicole, if you really are getting rid of fabric I’ll put my hand up for some 🙂 Let me know and I can pay postage. -

My reflections on how I achieved the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year. Overall I’m very pleased 🙂
1. Sew from my stash and make do!
I sewed up 255.6m of fabric this year! 63.65m of knit fabric, 163.1m of woven and 26.7m of fleece.
Since overall I bought 121.05m of fabric this means I used at least 134.55m of fabric from my…[Read more] -

Oooh, thank you @JWo, that looks good, there are some lovely colours of cord.
I’m also going to get some samples from https://www.myfabrics.co.uk/cotton-jersey-medium.html
I have no idea what it’s like, but it does at least tell me the fabric composition.

After talking with my husband tonight we decided that as well as a hood and ears the onsie should have zip off feet (like boots) and zip off mittens too 🙂 Off to Spotlight again in the morning.
We rather like gadgets and overcomplicating things!
At least I think the zip off mittens should be easier than the integrated ones I drafted for the kids…[Read more] -

I made a gorgeous white Coral fleece Cosy Bear hood from LTTS today. As I was sewing the ears down, the last step, to help them sit up nicley. I discovered I had left a pin in the bottom of one of the ears, inside the lined hood I had already sewn shut! I had to make a tiny hole behind the ear to get the pin out.
Lesson learnt, don’t use…[Read more] -

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Finished waist too small in the forum liesl + co: girl friday culottes 11 years ago
I came so close to shortening the waistband again (albeit by much less) as the pants did seem to fit. But then I tried the waistband on by itself and if I shortened it, it would have been too small.
So, I pinned the ends of the waistband to the edges of the opened left pocket, ignored all notches and pinned it to fit the pants. The pants required…[Read more]

After finishing the onsie, I had enough of the coral fleece left over to cut out a Cosy Bear hood from LTTS and a lullaby jacket! Not bad for a $2, <1m remanent. The bear hood is all done, and so cute and soft.
I’m not lining the jacket as I want it as cuddly on the outside as the I side. I just realised I want to add a zip to the front…[Read more] -

Hope all goes well with the new baby, Tamara!
I’m making the Jalie onsie from cuddle fleece. The pattern is fantastic! It all lines up and sews up so well. The instructions aren’t Oliver and S standard but they are fine, with great pictures, and give good results.
I love sewing with fleece, no ironing! It makes the project so fast 🙂 - Load More
