Plush Addict, a UK based online fabric store is selling some tana lawns, which are Liberty Lawns but are not the ‘A’ grade rolls sold in store at £15 per metre-ish. A great deal if you are not put off by any slight flaws. With a busy pattern they probably wouldn’t be noticeable. It is all above board/legal and is not ‘knock off’ fabric (I have asked!).

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoHey all, I just sewed my first entredeux and was SHOCKED at how easy it was! I’ll do a little tutorial for the Butterfly Dress sew-along. I was thinking I’d do a little pintucking tutorial, too, using a double needle and a pintucking foot. All these new (to me) techniques! Very fun, and so much simpler than I expected.
-
What? You are kidding right? They are so simple you are right but you know I thought the same when I first tried them. They are such pretty techniques. I am very glad there are tutorials coming about them all. But, I thought the butterfly was a top?
-
Ack, yes, the Butterfly Top! No idea why I said dress. In any case, I love these techniques.

This is actually what prevents me from buying more knits. Not the sewing, but the actual purchase. I need to find a book that has little swatches of fabric in it with labels. Then I could use that as a reference when I search google. I know what I am asking for, and google hopefully, helpfully provides that. I realize it means that the seller…[Read more]

Do I make first the polo or pants?
Do I make it using apples or ants?
Perhaps I should choose

I love the Seashore Sundress pattern – can’t wait to see yours, Harmony!
I have been tossing through the stash for various reasons, and all of a sudden I am consumed with the desire to sew it all up! I’ve been doing a lot of knits lately. Yesterday I sewed myself a pair of knit pajama pants (all I want to wear these days) using an…[Read more]

Masha Richart replied to the topic how much ease on patterns – sail boat top in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
The Sailboat fits a little snugger than some of the other patterns, in my experience. I generally size down considerably for my girls (my skinny 5-year-old gets a 2 or a 3 with added length, my 4-year-old gets a 3 + length), but not in the Sailboat. I have not made the Sailboat for my son, but he wears a 3T in ready-to-wear, but takes a 2 or a 3…[Read more]

I have had this same frustration myself. The conclusion I have come to is that I really prefer working with cotton/lycra knits when sewing for my kids as they seem to recover better (and drape less) than the the knits that contain rayon or poly (even where there is lycra). The Kaufman laguna knits fit into this category, although they are a bit…[Read more]

That has happened to me so many times! Knits come in such a range of weights and qualities, it’s really difficult to judge the weight when you’re purchasing on-line. Right now my fabric closet has a pile of really slinky knits that were intended for projects that require a more stable knit. Frustrating, to be sure.
If the fabric doesn’t feel…[Read more]

I’m very excited, I just bought the parachute pattern in both sizes! I’ve got a great idea to frankenpattern it with the Tea party dress as well as making it as is too 🙂
