Thanks for the links. Mostly, I’m annoyed that I have a set of Lisette patterns which are too small, and the Simplicity ones are out of print.:-(
I just made a muslin of a Simplicity pattern. Used the size 16 and … it fits.

I just last night had the realization that in pattern sizing, I’m not the same size I am in RTW. I have mostly sewn for my 2 year old or costumes from non-standard patterns, so this is a shock.
I have not yet tried to sew anything from a Big 4 pattern for me, but I had just started tracing a skirt from Simplicity when I had a niggle about double…[Read more]

That Simplicity looks spot on! Thanks!
And I didn’t even think of pjs….I do have a pj pattern somewhere. Will check the leg width–that’s not something I am comfortable altering much.

I spotted these pants in the Nordstrom catalog. Went to try them on…medium too small, large too big. So, I thought I’d try to find a similar pattern.
Any one have a tip on a similar loose, elastic waist, with pockets, wide-ish but not too wide leg pant?

I was ekeing out some Bedtime Story pajama bottoms from too little fabric and I accidently cut it right side up instead of wrong side. Had to piece to create one of the legs…still came out cute though!

A picture would be great. I did try it and the fabric just opened up again. I suppose I have to pin it heavily as well…

I actually have a Clover hem gauge/pressing guide. Could not figure out how to use the darn thing.
I think I need a support group!

It’s my lack of skill at successfully turning an entire skirt hem 1/2″ and then again. All attempts were wavy and unappealing. And my machine won’t baste properly.
I found BanRol at the local fabric store, and will give that a try and let you all know how it worke.d
One reason I really like sewing for my littlest is that size 2 things are so…[Read more]

That Ban Rol technique looks amazing. I will have to see if I can get some locally.
My sewing machine really does not like to do a basting stitch–the tension is never right on it. Very frustrating.

I’ve had this skirt completed except for the hem for a couple of months now. I can’t seem to figure out how to hem it evenly, with the curve of the skirt.
Any help/guidance appreciated.

I see so many cute quilting cotton fabrics that would make great boxers for little guys. (not that my little guy is ready yet…still in the early stages of potty training!)

I’d love a little kids underthings pattern–say, girls panties, boys briefs/boxer briefs and boxers and a camisole for girls and sleeveless undershirt for boys.

This time, I was using material gleaned from a size 3XL fleece vest that had an embroidered logo I wanted to reuse. It was enough fabric for front, back and top sleeves. I used a microfleece for the front, inner panel and lower sleeves. Quilting cotton, with interfacing, for the upper collar, placket, and pocket facings.
It turned out great! I love it.

I worked on a very special Nature Walk today. I’m using a 3XL fleece vest which has a unique embroidered logo to make it. I’m colour blocking it with some microfleece. Will post in the Flikr when done.
