What size did you make? If it’s a larger size, you should just be able to shorten at the top–trim 1″ (for example) off the top edge before sewing the waistband on. If it’s a smaller size, watch for the curve of the rise, since you don’t want to start cutting into it. If you’re starting to get into the curve on the smaller sizes, you may need to…[Read more]

Finally got to cutting a toile and I went with the size 8 with the length of the 12.
I am very pleased as is my daughter. I took a cm or so off all the seams above the waist as we wanted it quite fitted. If I make it for play I will go with the standard size 8 with a little length.
The pattern was completely true to her…[Read more] -

I am not a student but I can understand how that my seem a lot if you are watching your budget.
The more sewing I did,I found I wanted the best quality notions to make my garments look as good as possible for as long as possible.

I bought the combo Suse(rather hubby bought it for me),big mistake-royal pain in the bum to swap over!
A small tip,my cover stitch doesn’t like fat seams,so when I hem I fold the side seam in opposite directions above and below the seam(twist it),so that I am stitching one seam layer instead of double. It presses up nicely.
Yours may not have that…[Read more] -

I have one of the Janome CoverPro machines and really like it. I don’t like the combined serger/coverstitch machines because it’s a huge pain to switch back and forth and, quite frankly, I don’t think you save much money compared to having two separate machines. I like to have all three machines (coverstitch, serger, sewing machine) lined up on my…[Read more]

I received my latest patterns today Amy! Thank you so much! (& I completely understand the economics of it all – I still try to use Australian sites as much as possible – and as much as my credit card allows!)

Amy, I’m sorry the economics have been so difficult. I know it’s not any consolation, but I think many online retailers are struggling right now, and dealing with currency fluctuations doesn’t help. Thank you so much for all the support you’ve given O+S, and I’m glad you’ll still be here on the forums with us.

Hi Sandi – usual price here is between $25 & $27AU (+ P/P), so you can see why I was excited by Amy’s sale prices! (Although sad too, as she is no longer going to be selling O+S patterns – they’re not that widely available here.)

I am finishing up 3 pair of sailboat pants in denim for the older girls. After that , I have 3 brunch jackets to make.
My next pattern to draft is the brunch jacket in size 5 for Liddy, then cut out 2 for her. I will be making one in a pinwale cord rose pink with a brown floral, the other I am not too sure! She is quite keen on some lilac pinwale…[Read more] - Load More
