Is it possible be in love with a book? A secondhand copy of Claire Schaeffer’s Fabric Sewing Guide just popped through my letterbox and I can’t believe how brilliant it is! I only paid £5.97 with free postage and 25% discount on top of that, from World Books (UK ladies- this company have so many cheap, secondhand books you wouldn’t believe.) I…[Read more]

I knit very loosely, too Cat 75. In fact I have to normally drop down at least two knitting needle sizes to get the correct gauge. I know many people dislike doing it, but the best way is to knit a tension square, say about six inches square, using the suggested sizer needles and yarn. Then you count the stitches and rows (stitches the most…[Read more]

I used to work for Rowan Yarns until a year ago until pressures from my other job meant I couldn’t do both jobs. I was a Rowan Design Consultant, which basically means that I was based at a John Lewis department store in Cardiff (Wales) and helped customers when they needed advice. I also ran a monthly knitting group. So- I LOVE knitting! I knit…[Read more]

Ooh I know what you mean! I’m a grown woman and I love some of the gorgeous children’s prints. I loved the one with the giraffes on as well. (Sorry can’t do links).

I want to perfect fitting and learn bra making. I also want to continue making clothes for my youngest granddaughter but also get into making garments for my two grandsons- bought…[Read more]

No, that IS helpful, thanks Nicole. I hadn’t thought of using Pinterest to keep info,- that’s a good idea. I use Pinterest a lot so I will definitely do that. As I said, not sure if I do need a book. I’m a bit of a Luddite and tend to think of getting info from books rather than via the internet- my family laugh at me and keep saying, “Google is…[Read more]

Hi ladies,
Which book would you recommend on using an over locker/serger? I can thread it OK. It’s a Juki 634DE, though I don’t know if thats of any…[Read more]
