I just might do that in order to actually get the prints I’m after.
I had the sales assistant bag the range saying she couldn’t understand why people loved it so much. I set her straight in explaining why.
Will go mail ordering when hubby isn’t looking and get that ones I want. -

Don’t forget the mail order option. It can take a week but they hunt around and find it all for you!
Well worth the 7$ p&h. -

Bit disappointed to find my store didn’t have all the prints and fabrics available. Apparently there was a split shipment. Oh well will try again next time.

I’m bumping this thread rather than starting a new one, because of the photos posted above. If I want to add a sheer fabric at the bottom edge of the skirt, which will extend below it, so it looks like a double layer, how best would I do that? I was thinking at first of inserting my sheer fabric between the hem and the hem facing, where the pink…[Read more]

If I was to line the sleeves I would cut and sew a second sleeve, from lining fabric, put wrong sides together, finish the cuff, set in the sleeve and then bind the arm hole seam.

You could really have fun with this dress – make it as fancy or as casual as you like. I made one in corduroy and am planning one in denim. But I also think it would be great in prints or plains and it’s been proven to look really special in silk.
You can use small or medium prints with this but I personally wouldn’t go too large on the prints for…[Read more] -

Finally got to cutting a toile and I went with the size 8 with the length of the 12.
I am very pleased as is my daughter. I took a cm or so off all the seams above the waist as we wanted it quite fitted. If I make it for play I will go with the standard size 8 with a little length.
The pattern was completely true to her…[Read more] -

Hey that’s quite alright Emily, you are fitting into your budget and went with the best you can afford and that really is all that matters. It did the job. When you do get the “German” interfacing (I don’t really know why they call it that) you could keep it for the really special projects. It lasts a while because you use it on collars and things…[Read more]

I like to use lightweight woven interfacing that is iron on. I get it from Farmhouse fabrics and it is called “German” or “baby” interfacing. I’ve been using it ever since I first started with the smocking over 10 years ago and even though it would seem only useful for heirloom sewing I have had huge success carrying it over into the regular…[Read more]
