  • Giggle! That’s the Aussie humour coming out! Both Susan and Gail are very talented and lovely people. Nothing worse than a cranky embroidery instructor – they definitely fall in the “happy” group.

I second Joi’s classes. They may be a little confusing to start with (if you are used to the other methods of altering patterns) but they will make a heap of sense when practise and apply the method to fit your body. I actually get better results now than before.

  • I had the very great pleasure of taking a couple of classes with Gail when she came to Australia for Beating around the bush a few years ago (about 8?) we made Primrose from the Beautiful Bishops book – I did size 18 month I think and it still isn’t completed so maybe for next Easter it will be done.

I also did another dress with her that…[Read more]

  • Linda when I was pregnant I couldn’t get enough of baby spinch and beans. I eat a lot of red meat also. Unfortunately, you have to eat heaps of the iron rich foods to actually have the amount of iron needed – baby takes all the body’s iron reserves in the final trimester. I would suggest double checking with the doctor also as she may need an iron…[Read more]

  • Oh yes that’s another one of the favourites on my to do list but because we will be heading into winter (whatever that is around here) and my baby is still very much a “lying down” baby, that one is earmarked for more around the first birthday mark. I might even adapt one of Gail Doane’s bishops to make it fit her when she’s walking. It would be…[Read more]

I had to make a last minute pencil case for my son! His one from last year has mysteriously disappeared. Good thing I have ample amounts of train fabric and long zips on hand.

Still working on completing the Angel tops and knickers – fingers crossed I get another chance in the sewing room today.

  • I have this little dress I have been itching to make from Australian Smocking and Embroidery (issue number will come to mind shortly I hope) called Mignonette. It involves smocking, insertion lace and embroidery down the centre of a t shaped panel. Whether I will get to it for Easter or not is one thing as it falls early this year. But the aim is…[Read more]

Happy first birthday to little Josephine!

My baby girl is one month old today! Doesn’t seem like its been a month though – it just goes so fast.

I used to go to the local craft group when my eldest was little. It got too hard and some of the old ducks didnt cope well stitching around a toddler. So I stopped going until she started kindergarten…[Read more]

Have to add redoing the elastic in one leg of the heather ross bubble I made Chloe – dont ask me what happened because it was working last time she wore it! First though it needs to be washed ans soaked in napisan!
