I am not sure the protocol on linking other’s Flickr photos, so admin can remove if it isn’t okay. She gives a description here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/magonomics/15347834474/in/photolist-7uM4MS-fPh3gD-fF7ccm-pamHD9-fKGzXQ-t3o9z5-poeEtL

Ah, I have sewn for a Bay Area winter baby before! I made the pants in flannel, lined with double gauze and the other way around, gauze lined with flannel, worked out to be quite comparable to pinwale cord in weight. The mama reported they were a great weight for the weather there, should you find yourself fabric shopping for another set down the road.

Ok, great to know — the very first set of patterns were a little bit different in how some of the info was presented, compared to the protocol used now, and I suspect that a box I’m seeing on my pattern sheet that has some numbers in it like 30201, 1/1 – 1/2 REV may be the older way that versions were noted, but I don’t know how to interpret…[Read more]

Good reminder to everyone who uses digital patterns. Ours are made with Adobe Acrobat and are guaranteed to work when you view and print them with Adobe Reader. If you use a different PDF viewer, the chances are good that the file will not print perfectly.

Shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve done it with non-stretchy interlock for boys clothes without a problem. Photo here – the stripes are interlock and the teal is jersey: https://www.flickr.com/photos/23557464@N03/13439957983/in/album-72157651963159780/
Enjoy your serger!!

If any of the seams give you grief try ironing a small scrap of interfacing to stabilise the seam before sewing.
Good luck, they sound very groovy.

A very soft pinwale would be lovely. The pants fit for a long time too.
Congratulations Nancy, I am so excited for you.

I had my last lot made by Cash’s name labels. I think they are international, try Googling them.
Absolutely gorgeous, individually cut and iron-on-able.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I don’t seem to be able to find my copy of that pattern, but there may be an easier way to determine which printing you have, as there are errata for the first printing.
Do you see this on your pattern piece #4 or are all the labels in order?
“Finally, please note that in the first printing of the…[Read more]

I’ve looked into this before, and for the small quantities I wanted, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend to get woven labels. There are lots of great option on Etsy for small batches of printed labels, but in the end I just had my daughter’s name printed a bunch of times onto a fat quarter from Spoonflower, and I cut them out as needed.

I think for a winter baby the pinwale cord might be fine — the pants haven’t got elastic at the ankle. If you’re one of our Southern Hemisphere friends and having a summery December, then yes, perhaps just the jacket in pinwale.

So annoying when that happens! Glad it got resolved!

I agree with Nicole, it’s not too slim and not too roomy. Enough ease to be comfortable without looking baggy.

I find this a good fit, not sloppy, for the size chart given. It is my skinny, broad shouldered 11 year old’s shirt de jour.
I do add some length, maybe 3 inches? You can always shorten it.
Hope that helps.
