I use Deb/My North’s directions for bagging a lining. Whenever I go it alone, I stuff up, I go back to Deb’s blog and it works!

Try the help forum on Flickr. I have had good success there.

Nicole replied to the topic Has anyone made the jacket out of Polartec or fleece? in the forum oliver + s: school days 10 years ago
By all means, sew it with fleece if that is what you have, but it is such a lovely sew and fleece doesn’t really wear that well….
One thing to be aware of is that it is a pattern for a woven, not a knit so you will have to be careful for the pieces stretching out of shape.
I wonder if pressing a strip of soft interfacing to the seam allowance…[Read more] -

Don’t feel bad Mel, I made exactly the same mistake, only the neckline of my cape was already finished with buttonholes and the hem periphery was more than 5 metres around ( adult cape)
I now try to remember that you can only turn a donut inside out if the centre hole ir outer perimeter are open! Although NanaMar’s suggestion of lining AND cape…[Read more] -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Could I add a lining after-the-fact? in the forum liesl + co: everyday skirt 10 years ago
As for fabric, do choose something slippery. I have a winter style/weight everyday skirt and it needs a slippery lining to stop it catching on tights.
Bemberg rayon or acetate or silk… I’d avoid a cotton like batiste or voile. Perfect for summer and bare legs but no good with stockings. -

I haven’t done it but it could be done if you’re friendly with your seam ripper. 🙂
I’d cut an identical skirt without pockets or waistband out of lining and about 1/2″ shorter. Then detach the waistband and reattach it over both skirt and lining. If you’re happy to have topstitching effect then the reattaching could be a one sew step by putting…[Read more] -

And congratulations on the trip! Paris is such a wonderful city, and it’s great to take some time for yourself. It’s very renewing. Have fun!

Unfortunately the last time I was in Paris it was before I did much sewing, but I can recommend that if you visit the Jardin des Plantes, head out through the back exit and have a cup of hot, sweet mint tea under the fig trees in the back patio of the Paris Mosque.…[Read more]

I don’t know anything about fabric shopping, but as a fellow cyclist, if you’re brave enough to do the rond-point at the top of the Champs Elysee then go for it! If that sounds horrifying then I’d check out the velo-libre system and whether they still close the road along the Seine on Sundays. That’s a great scenic route.
Or, head out to the Bois…[Read more] -

If you don’t want to go the vintage route (sizing issues, etc.) I second the comment about the School Photo Dress. People often call that the Jackie O. dress. A few easy modifications will get you exactly what you want.

Meleliza, if you want them separated also I will have the train loving son for a while – it may turn my house upside down but will keep my own boy entertained with some juvenile male company.
Nicole could have one and I the other and then we could swap – and have two farm stays far away in Australia!
Running away sounds like a great plan though!…[Read more]

I too give both my kids dates. I try to sandwich them in with a scheduled activity. EG: Alex has dance at 4-5 and 7-8 on Friday evenings. Every couple of weeks from 5-7 we grab dinner and go to the book store or something to make a date of it. So I try to sneak in the date like that.
Sometimes at home, I will also tell one child (when there…[Read more]

I am in the US. I have to double load the O & S site too. But only on mobile devices, whether on cell or wifi. (iPad/iPhone).
My desk top loads ok, and both are wifi.
As to http or https, my address bar shows neither. There is no http displayed.

Finished the jeans and they fit really well, I am so pleased.
I ended up taking 20cms from the leg and added a few cm’s to the waist but they look really good and he likes them.
Win!Next up a KwikSew polo top and some knit shorts for Jed.
And then some exciting sewing, a hot pink linen Garden Party dress for a special OS, O+S sweet girl.
