In light of Todd’s blog post about the evolution of paper vs PDF, I wish I could find paper for a laser printer that is pretty thin and considering the volume we print… cheap! When I google translucent paper, it is pretty dear. Regular paper is a touch too stiff. I wish I could find something just a touch heavier than the paper tissue that…[Read more]

    Thank you Todd.

By all means, start a new thread if you are in a hurry. I usually resort to Google to find an old thread.

nothing at the moment as preparations for Easter (we celebrated last week) and my late-night sewing tuckered me out. Luckily the insomnia has abated a bit. I signed up for KCWC (next week!) despite my better judgment. My goal is to cut out and sew another Cosi swimsuit for my oldest during that week. The girls have also expressed interest in…[Read more]

Wow, that’s a lot of great info, thank you Nicole! I know Gertie from Gertie’s Blog for Better Sewing (not sure of the exact name) is very keen on vintage as well, and might have some additional tips. Off to peep at Nicole’s handiwork 🙂

What an interesting question! I don’t think it’s a huge issue either way, and there hasn’t been any prior discussion about it, but it’s very thoughtful of you to ask.

Speaking only for myself, I’d say that if you think your question would fit well within an existing discussion (and you can find it, sometimes it’s hard to turn up a thread you know…[Read more]

  • Linda, I used the bubble dress in the smallest size for my baby and when she was a newborn it came way past her knees – more towards her ankles actually- she was only 50cm at birth, if this gives you an indication of length.

It is the perfect little dress for a newborn.

    They sound terrific Nicole!

I have the corduroy teaparty dress still to make but may have to put it aside to get on with a pair of dress pants, vest and shirt for Noah to wear to Chloe’s christening.

Then eventhough I did find something rtw, I want to use one of the butterick Lisette patterns to make and outfit for myself.

I love school holidays also. It means not having to travel in to town everyday. We have been having a few issues with our bus driver and so I have resorted to taking the kids to school. On one hand it beats having to be on the bus for an hour and a half from 7.10am but on the other hand it takes a huge toll on fuel and car wear and tear. My kids…[Read more]

  • We’re starting a new round of work to do performance testing and tweaking of the site to address some of these issues with load time. I’m hoping you’ll all see performance improvements over coming weeks as we make some changes behind the scenes.

I have finished four of the nurses capes but they are quite small so I have decided to make matrons using the LTTS cape pattern in red wool.
