JohannaO replied to the topic a c-thru metric ruler… seems to be elusive in the USA! in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 8 years ago
Try these guys-

Give them a call- I’ve bought a metric ruler from them at the international quilt show, so I know they stock them, they just don’t have it on their website. -
JohannaO replied to the topic Salt water sandals – your thoughts? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
All of my girls, plus me wear them. I can still wear kid sizes, so I can have a pair too. So far they have been to the beach, hiked mountains, to the pool, to the bayou, and have survived.

JohannaO replied to the topic How short can I make it? in the forum liesl + co: gallery tunic + dress 9 years ago
Hi Johanna! (now that is fun)
I’m 5’2″. I made a straight 8 but took 1 1/2″ off the “shorten line”. I’m short in the torso, but long (for a petite) in the legs. I’m pretty average through my shoulders. I would say you may not want to take that much length out unless you would like it to be a blouse instead of a tunic. If that’s the case,…[Read more] -
JohannaO replied to the topic Fairy tale with stretch lace? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 9 years ago
It depends on how much stretch the lace has to it. If you’re going to use it as an overlay with a non-stretch under it I would say you wouldn’t make any changes. If you’re using it with a stretch fabric underneath it, and they are both fairly stretchy, you may be able to eliminate the back zip, cut off the mid back seam allowance and then cut it…[Read more]

JohannaO replied to the topic Lined version with notched neckline in the forum liesl + co: bistro dress 9 years ago
When you sew the lining to the neck you would just need to copy the stitching line for the notched version onto the fabric- either the lining or on the reverse of the main. Then follow the rest of the directions. It should be an easy modification.

JohannaO replied to the topic Wedding Wardrobe Help? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
If you’re Southern, there is only one place that you can’t wear boots, and that’s in the shower. 🙂 Seriously- 50 is cold for me too. I would look for winter fabrics in a lighter color scheme. I would probably skip the boots for a wedding unless I knew I would be doing a lot of dancing, and wear some tights or fun leggings and ballet flats with a…[Read more]

JohannaO replied to the topic Playdate in velvet? and other questions in the forum oliver + s: playdate 12 years ago
I did a cord version, and it was wonderful- fast and easy to wear, and as she grew, we simply put leggings underneath it for more warmth. http://www.flickr.com/photos/johanna_e_olson/5012677429/
I don’t think a drapey velvet would be weird at all. Make sure you grab enough fabric to account for the nap in the velvet- you might need more fabric…[Read more] -

Carol, in this case, I wouldn’t raise the bottom of the arm hole. Since this pattern is very narrow through the underarms, it shouldn’t need it at all.

I’ll put in a vote for same fabric ribbing. However, I would cut a little out of the armhole to make room for the ribbing. The amount would depend on how wide your ribbing would be. If you don’t make it larger, you’ll end up with some very boxy looking shoulders.
