Thanks Sarvi! I forgot to mention that we are in San Francisco! It will pretend to be cold during the winter months!

How perfect! I’m here picking up a Pinwheel dress pattern and thought I’d visit! Nicole, I LOVE the Jiffy pattern in pink! I have a vague memory of having that outfit in the 60s! The Jackie outfit will be marvelous, of course. Can hardly wait to see the piccies of final results! xo, Nancy

How fun! I would love to have Flat S visit the San Francisco Bay Area! The airport is in Millbrae, that’s where we live, and it’s less than 30 minutes south of San Francisco. O, the places we could go! There’s Golden Gate Park, and while there we could drop by the deYoung Museum and the Academy of Sciences with its grass roof (that’s where the aquarium is located)! There’s the Golden Gate Bridge. O! and this visit would not be complete until Flat S got to ride an historic cable car (and/or visit the Cable Car Museum)! The San Francisco Zoo is great to visit early in the morning when the animals are eating their breakfasts! How long can she stay?

Sarvi, thank you for your kind words of welcome! Yes, getting back to sewing is feeling very theraputic.

Btw, I love what you said about sewing for school, that it “can be so fun. Pockets to hold secret treasures, linings and facings in surprise, fun fabrics, pretty name tags for everything!”

I keep hoping to hear that my son and his wife are expecting. It is taking a bit longer than they anticipated. When they do say a baby is on the way, I will be so excited! They know I will be sewing oliver + s garments. :o)

    Yes, I am Nancy B.

O, Nicole you are so sweet to remember!

I do believe spending time with you all at the Oliver and S community will definitely help keep the cheer!

My best friend dropped by today and bought 3 items from my original collection: an Ice Cream dress, a Family Reunion dress, and Sunday Brunch jacket. Where do we put piccies (photos) if we are allowed?

I plan to sew another Family Reunion dress next!

Hello, may I join in? I have been away for a year. I was very sad and couldn’t sew. Thanks to God and loving friends + family and learning about patience, I got through it. A whole year! I am much better. My energy and excitement for sewing has returned. Although slowly, I am getting back to my sewing. Also setting up a new version of my etsy shop and writing a new blog!

I’m back with the same question, just smaller… today it is for 3-6 months. Just some ballpark numbers would be very helpful. Thanks!!! Nancy

I rescued the little yellow jacket! Piccies here>> http://www.flickr.com/photos/44502054@N03/sets/72157627645724305/

The holes were sooooo tiny and right next to the collar. I darned them like you suggested, Nicole, and they disappeared. Then I pulled out some sweet lace for the ‘cover up.’

Most importantly, I understand the construction snafu now. With help from Nicole and my sewing buddy (‘C’), I now realise that the stay-stitching on the yoke had shortened it (I didn’t stay-stitch the facing; I think that’s why they didn’t match). Now I can sew this pattern w/o apprehension. :o)

o, Nicole, THANK you. For your support AND for looking in on my shop (just opened)!!!

and for the damaged jacket, I think I will darn it. There must be some way to rescue it! ‘Tis yellow with a diamond quilting weave–so pretty! I have more of that fabric. Thanks for the encouragement. xoxo

dear Nicole, that makes sense. I will try it(I already have a 2nd one to this point in the construction). Thanks!

So to make sure I understand, there will be a lot of easing the facing into the curve of the neckline, yes?

Once again, this thread has come in handy! I LOVE having the piccies to guide the way.

    Thank you, everyone!

I finished my first Sketchbook shirt. Yay! you can see piccies on flickr.

My biggest error was making the buttonholes too small so I had to find different buttons from the original sailboat buttons I had chosen. Still, I am happy with the new buttons and the feeling of the final result. Whew! it’s a gift for the son of my second cousin/once removed. He’s the same size my Sam was when he was born and precious!

This morning I am tracing off the smallest sizes for Family Reunion. This pattern makes me SO HAPPY. I want to make it up in about a dozen fabrics!

I just got back from a long weekend with my sister and we worked on adjusting patterns to fit ourselves. Now I know why I prefer sewing for dolls and children.

[P.s. Thanks Nicole! I added my sewing-for-tykes blog to my name. My sewing-for-dolls blog is http://www.dollfancier.com]
