Nothing like a mom who likes fun, colorful clothes to inspire you, eh?
I’ve finished off the first of five bear carriers, the other still need buttons and velcro. So tempted to take a break and make a new dress, to add to the closet full of pretty dresses that are worn once a week, at most. Sensible is sensible, but it isn’t much fun.

@ock-du-spock the layette pattern is fabulous! My daughter practically lived in the bodysuits when she was tiny – being a summer babe and all.
I am currently drafting off a McCall’s shirt pattern for Murray’s shirt. His chest measurement didn’t go near the Jalie sizes.

@lightningmcstitch is correct. This is one pattern that needs to fit well in the girth. Get the smaller size.
(And make a muslin bodice)

I would do as you suggest but sew one side of your collar to the jacket ( the under collar) and the upper collar to your facing/lining.
Then sew those together

You’ve got it. There’s a photo that shows snaps going into a coat here: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/a-pattern-to-make-product-to-be-proud-of.html?m=0
Hope that helps. -

You know what to do!
Get the smaller size and make a nicely fitted dress with length added where needed.
Enjoy! -

How about tan vests and deep purple silk ties? They can coordinate without being too matchy.

I am attempting to write this message as the baby is woofing down her zucchini slice and ripping off her bib in one synchronised movement (almost). Has anyone had any luck with keep the messy kid bib on a child of ten months? She seems to think it is not required yet gets a rash from the moisture that comes with eating.

I like this one too, for the vest: http://www.moodfabrics.com/italian-red-off-white-herringbone-wool-suiting-fw11785.html
with maybe this for the trousers: http://www.moodfabrics.com/donna-karan-fire-engine-red-stretch-wool-suiting-fw11622.html

What are your boys like? More silly/playful? Or wanting to feel more grown up? In your cool climate I think a nice suiting weight wool would give a cozy feel.

How about something like that with some little wine-colored velvet buttons and a silk bow tie in a matching…[Read more]

@sarvi Yes, they take very little fabric. I had a couple of “diaper cuts” (slightly larger than fat quarters) of girly knit fabric lying around from when I was sewing cloth diapers for my girls years ago and I got two larger pairs out of one cut, and four of the smaller size out of the second cut!

I should think it would be a great way to use the bits up. Especially for little bottoms. I have heaps of scraps so the undies idea could be a way…. Christmas stocking stuffers😜.
I am almost done with the Garden party dress. This is the second one I’ve made and the instructions were so straight forward I’ve hardly needed them this time around.

Is it a good way to use up knit scraps? I might take a whack at it some time, just for fun.
