Sarvi replied to the topic Help me enjoy knitting again in the forum
Fiber Club! 11 years agoOh, and just to add, I’ve been very happy with the Brooklyn Tweed patterns thus far, everything works out pretty well. I had a lot of growth in a pattern where I didn’t block the swatch but obviously that was my fault. Blocking is quite the art form in itself, I might add. It’s *very* easy to undo months of good work with improper handling of a wet piece.

Fiber Club! 11 years agoI really feel your pain on this one. I also feel that knitting is so labor-intensive, it’s not worth it to use yarns you don’t love, so even a small project gets very expensive very quickly. The problem is that swatching it so much slower and more expensive than doing a muslin for something sewn. You have to knit a big swatch, using the same yarn…[Read more]

Brittney replied to the topic Question on moving darts for the Bistro dress in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
I must confess, I don’t own this one (yet, still nursing), but in the comment section on this post it says there is a SBA included: http://oliverands.com/community/blog/2014/10/introducing-the-liesl-co-bistro-dress-pattern.html
I apologize, I should have sourced that the first time, but I was on my phone.

Sarvi replied to the topic Which size would you use (4 or 5)? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
Hm, that’s a bit tricky. I think I’d buy the smaller range for patterns that include bottoms, as it would be pretty tricky to narrow and shorten from 5 to 2, but get the larger range for dress-only or coat patterns. Do you have a sense of how much longer she’ll be in the 4s? Has she just recently grown into them, or been wearing 4s for a while and…[Read more]

Oh, that’s clever! Mine come out to $3-7 depending on the size. I could probably find them a bit cheaper but the shop’s located near the area where my favorite farmer’s market is held, so I pay a bit more for the convenience.

The relevant set isn’t “most countries” though, it’s “most customers” — thus, since it sounds like there was a proven customer base in AUS, it made sense to go to the extra trouble. Though at this point I’m probably backseat-driving somebody else’s business decisions, which I imagine could be annoying — sorry, I’ll zip it!
Either way, I know a…[Read more]

Three weeks into sewing Hugo’s peacoat and the end is in sight
I have a long sewing room so I put Trixie up one end and by the time she wriggles her way to me I have a bit done and move her back againThat said, I think it is time for the barricades to go up, she will be crawling soon I guess
