  • Yes, I have an embroidery machine. Even with a 17×12 hoop, the skirt took three hooping a!!

  • I ended up just going with the Fairy Tale since I’ve made it before. I changed the collar to a stand collar, embroidered everything and made a separate vest. I also eliminated all hand sewing because this is a costume/everyday wear. I topstitched the lining to the outer dress at the center back zipper. I’ll add some more photos on Flickr but…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the suggestions @LightningMcStitch ! I am thinking about using either the Music Class blouse or the Sunday Brunch jacket as a starting point for the collar/top. It does need to be an all in one dress as she only wears dress – 24/7 and usually only pink. She makes an exception for Anna outfits. ;-P

@with love Heidi thanks! I will take…[Read more]

  • My 4yo goddaughter has picked this year’s Halloween costume – Anna from Frozen Fever. 2yrs ago she was “Baby Anna” and I heavily altered a Fairy Tale dress to get the look I wanted. I’m not sure what will work best as a starting point for Frozen Fever Anna – I was considering the Fairy Tale again just because I love the fit. Would it be easy…[Read more]

  • Thanks for all the tips and suggestions! Unfortunately the baptism was postponed due to a nasty stomach bug taking out their entire house (except for the little guy, gotta love those mama’s milk immunities!). It might not happen till May now so I’m going to wait a little and see how much he grows. I am still making him a pair of sailboat pants as…[Read more]

  • Thanks all! These are great suggestions and ideas!

Nicole, I will definitely refer to your tutorial when I make them.

Based on his height/weight, he is at the bottom of the 12-18month size so I plan to make that with maybe just a tad more length. And because he will probably only wear them this once, I want them to be a good fit now and not…[Read more]

  • I was just asked/volunteered to make pants for my youngest cousin’s baptism (in 2 weeks). For many reasons, his baptism was pushed back and now it will coincide with his first birthday! Obviously he doesn’t fit into the family christening gown, nor would that be practical on a 1yo who crawls and climbs everything.

    I just made a Sailboat skirt…[Read more]

Thanks! Unfortunately the link didn’t work but I have the idea. 🙂

I decided to underline the entire dress in the same thin cotton as the lining. I also decided to leave the belt and collar just out of the solid to add a bit more interest to the dress. I also found an older post on here about finishing the sleeve/armhole edge and have decided to…[Read more]

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I will get either more of the cotton I already got for lining or another similar color lining fabric and underline the dress. I know that this will turn into an everyday “play” dress right after the wedding, that’s the stage of life this little girl is in! Because of that I want it to be sturdy and hold up…[Read more]

  • Hi all,

I am getting ready to make my 2nd Fairy Tale dress (first was a “Baby Anna” Halloween costume, seen here https://flic.kr/p/pKCL6H). This next one will be a toddler party dress, worn to a semi formal summer wedding. I plan to make view A, leaving off the belt/bow. I go back and forth on which collar I want, open to suggestions on that…[Read more]

  • Hello all!

I am getting ready to start in on costuming for an ice show – which is what I do full time, make skating apparel that is. This however is for a benefit ice show so I’m looking for a few shortcuts. 😉

I’d like to use the Sunny Day Shorts pattern as a base for most of the skaters in one number – they will have blue sequin shorts,…[Read more]
