Ottobre magazine has merino knit in their Etsy store now, I don’t know how the prices compare though.

Ditto what Tamara wrote. Also polo shirts, Henleys, cargo shorts/pants, a basic jacket like a windbreaker, swim trunks. Dude basics that I can jazz up enough to make them interesting, but not so interesting he won’t wear them.

I have a question that sort of relates, if I want to make a coat with waxed canvas should I wax the material before or after I sew it?

I wash everything in my machine, even wool as it has a setting for it. I would was it on cold on a gentle setting and hang dry. Dry cleaning is for the birds.

I like Inder’s suggestions. Also, covered buttons!

Thank you. I am excited, but also a little nervous. Any advice or helpful hints are appreciated.

I am making a slew of Lotta Jansdotter baby snugglers, matching caps, and perhaps a Noodlehead divided basket or two. Three of my friends are having babies, a different one just had a set of twins, another one is adopting a set of twins, and I am having my own set of twins in October.

I think that might be my go to baby gift for the moment. One shall be an Arizona baby so I will make that snuggled out of double gauze and cotton lawn.

What is your price point for fleece and sweatshirting? I like kitchycoo, but it can be pricey. Simplifi fabrics has nice sweatshirting too. The European fabric companies like Lillestof do it best though.

@roundtheworldgirl and @jay_1965vw I live in DC. I tried to get a sewing meet up group together a few years ago and the poor turnout and lack of interest was such a bummer. Is getting better though.

Enjoy the DMV and stay aware of rush hour times.

There was blog post about this:

customizing the layette: sleeveless bodysuit tutorial

    Hope that helps.

You could make welt pockets or patch pockets. I think our depends on the look you are going for.

I know this is an old post, but would it be possible to post a picture of the pattern on the pattern topic main page?

I second the Ottobre mention. Also, if you are into Japanese sewing mooks, I love Cucito. They go up to 150cm. They even have special publications every so often for a particular type of garment.
