Good luck with the curtains Katy – I made roman blinds for our little house some 11 years ago I don’t like them and I am not good at making them but they have stayed simply because they haven’t come down – yet!

I spent yesterday cutting out and deciding how to best sew all the things I’ve cut out before we escape for our city adventure. Oh and I had to sew on some large patches onto my nephew’s GI for Jujitsu MMA (mixed martial arts) club.

This morning I got up early and started cutting the birthday outfits out and have been interrupted by little people trapsing in and out of my little tiny space so not much sewing done at all. I hope to get at least the jacket done and sorted tomorrow afternoon and that leaves doing the rest tomorrow and Tuesday evenings. I’ll do some bulk chain sewing I think as this is the only way I think I would be able to get it all done – not long now and my job will be finished and I can have my extra sewing hours back and no more bulk anything including burning candles at both ends.

I’m sorry to hear about the wet ceiling situation Katy. It can be a very stressful thing to have happen. Our roof was taken off by a freak storm when Imogen was only 8 weeks old. It meant 6 weeks living at the inlaws! I hope you don’t have to be vacated for that long.

Just finished a hot pink Secret Agent Trench. Now all I need is another trip to the shop to get the right buttons!

Next up, two delicious Fairy Tale dresses, a Badminton skirt, Family Reunion top and two sketchbook shirts that have been sitting there for near on 12 months – gasp!

Trying to find time to sew up my new hula hoop pattern! In two diferent purple fabrics. Then onto modifying it for two of my harry potter costumes.

Well I am happy to report that the hot pink trench was a huge hit and especially the self covered buttons. Who could believe such a style in hot pink could look so sophisticated on a ten year old!!! I can say that now as today she’s hit double digits. Photos to come.

The only sewing I did after a long day of travel and a longer time of shopping in the city is the self covered buttons fro the jacket – simply because we didn’t get to the button shop so made my own! I used the large pink Chrysanthemum print from the Cape Ann range, I used this also to bind the seams.

The hot pink trench sounds fantastic!

Finally found time to sew up my hula hoop skirt. Only 2 hours from cutting out yo finishing the elastic! This included a phone call and unironing (is this a word?). I’m also glad it will work (with mods) for two of my Hermione skirts!

I did iron the turn over bits before I sewed the flounces together, this meant I could mark the turn over in the seam allowance.

I have a long tm project for myself tht I’d really like to finally put to bed tomorrow. Then it’s on to a whole pile of children’s things! After all, it’s October isnt it? I whipped up a simple fairy tale dress last weekend. I wanted to practice the dress and I wanted to send something else to Haiti. Project hope art said they needed dresses for older girls, so I made a size 12 with plenty of length. I skipped the sleeves, collar and sash and I only lined the bodice because the fabric didn’t really call for a full lining. Even simplified like this, it’s a lovely dress.

Next up are Halloween costumes and a holiday fairy tale dress for a little girl I know.

Drudging through School ‘bottoms’…..however,my grey tulle arrived for Zara’s Fairy Tale dress so that had perked me up and had given me some encouragement to keep going.

Ohhh, Fairy Tale dress for Zara, in gery? Can’t want to see that. Keep going on those school uniforms. I would love to see how you put the zip in the sketchbook pants.

Have sewn a dummy clip (pacifier clip) for a friend, but didn’t check that the clip would go over my snaps! But I worked it out in the end. I also finished off my Ergo suck pads for work, again had to add snaps. And I also finished a tea party, again by adding snaps!

I have unpicked, measured and cut apart the pleated wool skirt for my harry potter skirts. I have successfully rehemmed one of the pleated sections (of skirt 3). I’m not sure I’m have enough fabric to make my 4th skirt, but I might just need to do some thinking outside the box.

Now waiting for the wind to die down to take photos!

It sounds like you had a “snapping” good time Heidi.

I forgot to tell you all that I think I inspired someone in their sewing during the year to sew something for a boy and put it in the show. I was pleasantly surprised to see two boy items as there are mostly girl things exhbited. It felt good despite not seeing my things up there with them – they just didn’t make it this year but there is always next and I have promised the head stewardess, so it is a done deal!

I started on the Amy butler Fairy tale dress today but didn’t get very far as we had to go out for a family dinner. I was hoping to do some more tonight but it is already late so I may get the chance early tomorrow.

I have just the elastic to go on two of my harry potter skirts, one is a badminton skirt without scallops in 2T (it looks so grown up!) and the other is a hula hoop with a pleated bottom section instead of the flounces in size 4. I have another badminton waistband with a pleated skirt I’m still finishing, but very close to done and then the last skirt that is pleated again but uses the original skirt waistband. I may need to add a placket for ease of getting in and out, but am leaving it too think.

I bought my new “sewing sister” today – so now I have triplets! Bring on the t-shirts, what fun we shall have!

WIP is the Amy butler Fairy Tale dress. I did a few hours this morning only because I had a constant screeching of moving vine outside my window and got up early as a result. I wanted to finish it before going to the zoo but left it in order to do a better job without rushing. I have the sleeves and skirt lining to put in and then the hems and then deciding on the trim. I may even get the Eiffel tower one started tonight also.

I can’t wait to see the Amy Butler Fairy Tale Dress.

Thanks Jennifer1568, I was hoping to have it done so she could wear it to church tomorrow but it is late here and I feel as though my eyes are on stalks! I have the handsewing along the zipper to do and figure out what to embellish it with and how. She opted for no crinoline (probably because she might not have known what it is.) but I think it may look better with one – oh well! It does look good though very plain at the waist for the moment because I am undecided as to what to put there. It is a toss between the tube, a tie or a wider band emcompassing a fabric rose and for that I will need my tools which are at home.

I wonder if I will be able to stitch neatly whilst travelling in the car to at least do the lining? I shall certainly give it a go!

Just finished cutting out 2 Book Reports; sizes 2 and 3; and Little Lisette 2063. Lots of sewing ahead. Still hoping to hear about design ease in BR Sleeves; anybody??

Needlewoman, I have mad the book report dress in a size 12 and found the fit to be perfect. It is meant to be roomy and I actually found more than enough length for my 10 year old’s more than long enough arms. I’m not quite sure what you mean by ease, but if you mean ease as in roominess, then yes there is plenty.

I went fabric shopping (accidentally) today – Shock on a Sunday! – Sunday trading has only just come into force over this end of the country and it is strictly (at the moment while the shires have their way) city based. So on the way home I stopped to find some much needed supplies (because lately I am always seeming to run out) and got some lovely tana lawn and (yay) finally found some Lisette lawn and voile which I am over the moon about!

So I didn’t sew today but I did think about it. Does that count?
