I just finished sewing a Badminton Skort and cannot rave enough about how much I love it! so cute and so EASY and FAST!!! I am usually a very slow sewer but this came together sooooooo fast! The only part that i had a bit of trouble with was the elastic as i don’t have the child it is for with me so i had to kinda guess for the sizing and just made it an overall 2″ smaller than her waist…here’s hoping that it fits and she likes it (she did pick out the fabrics:)!

Nicole that sounds tough…you shall prevail!

LightningMcStitch you are going crazy with the hats! That is something i have yet to sew…I can’t wait to see all your head toppers 🙂

That is so good to hear Mie,I have two to sew but as I need to change threads on my big mean overlocker I am trying to do my ‘lights’ first and then do a batch of ‘darks’.

The Badminton skorts I have cut are navy.

I couldn’t bear to face the shirt last night but I know once I get the last sleeve in I will be nearly done.

    So many hats,are they gifts?

It would be thoughtful of me if they were Nicole, but no. 😉

Hat number five completed. Two to go to wrap up hat week. Considering I only get to sew in the few hours post dinner-pre bed I’m enjoying the one project per night approach.

I’m working on the idea that if I make enough hats I might stumble upon one that Miss A will wear! Also, it’s a fun way to use up bits of fabric and I’m enjoying the pattern/designer comparison. I’m sure it’s overkill and some may never get worn, but never let practicalities get in the way of a fun sewing project I say!

I am making the winter pijamas for my 21 months baby. I started a bedtime story pijama (2Years size), I finished the pants and I need to finish the kimono jacket hem.

The pants fit her so well and I loved it so much that last Last night I sewed more 2 pijamas pants, just need to add the elastic that I bought today and they are finished. Than I’ll finish the kimono jacket and need more 2 jackets to have 3 new pijamas.

Today I bought some twill to do a 2+2 skirt and a sunday brunch skirt, and bought also some cotton to do the 2+2 blouse and I think I will make also the sailboat blouse to go with the sunday brunch skirt.

And that is a lot for me.

Oh wow, haven’t been on here in a long while.

Going to try and get in this habit again.

I almost finished a Hula Hoop tonight but had to quit because I need to measure elastic on Sofia. Should have done that before bedtime.

Staying home tomorrow because our daycare is closed for planning apparently. So I’ll run errands then dig in on the Fire Fly for her.

Ditto the above – I must have drifted back at the same moment! I’ve been reading the forums and wondering why I’ve been away so long when there’s so much good sewing talk going on here…

I’ve got a music box jumper, puppet show shorts and a jump-rope dress cut out and ready to sew – but which one to start first?

Nicole, I have just changed my ovelocker threads to dark, and now what am I going to sew, a Tea Party with white bodice! Well I’m going to fully line it (using your great tutorial), so I won’t need my overlocker!

Trench coats on hold for a couple of days, I need some easy quick gratification sewing, (and I need to check measurements!)

    Love the Tea Party dress!

Heidi, the last few times I have sewed it I have added the piping to the skirt rather then the bodice. The same principle applies but I definitely had less of a tucking issue.

    Thank you and have fun!

Thanks Nicole. Nearly finished, but stuffed up the hemming and when I turned it inside out is was wrong! I should have just followed your instructions instead of going my own way. Later I will remove the hem and hem the two together with bias tape. But it will be reversible! I also put my dressed together following more of the instructions in LTTS than the normal instructions. I will remember to add the piping the the skirt not bodice next time I pipe the bodice.

I took a shot at the elastic in the Hula Hoop and finished the skirt last night.

She put it on immediately this morning and has worn it ever since.

I think she approves. I took a few pics of her and will post on Flickr properly soon.

Next up is taping the Field Trip – the Fire fly has been put slightly on hold while I search for a lining.

One blue hopscotch top needing hems and side seams for tomorrow’s sports day.

Hoping to start on the Scarecrow apple picking dress too … but the digital book report pattern is calling to me. Decisions decisions.

A digital book report should be called a Kindle or E-book report dress!

2nd to last hat pattern down. A repeat of Hat “q” from a japanese sewing book that L. Poel from the Flickr pool put me onto. I love this pattern, even if the winter weight one I made still hasn’t been worn, and thought I’d do one for summer. Of all the hats I’ve tried, the crown/side set in on this one is by far the easiest.

Hehe you are absolutely right! Imogen has a kindle to help her wade through the books at school – a reluctant reader who loves her kindle because all she has to do is switch on the voice and read along – what a perfect title for the digital pattern!

I’m up to the frill on the Edwardian baby gown and am officially taking a break! Sewing lace to the fabric frill did my head in and now it is time for something else. So I will resume when I have done everything else.

I finished the Hopscotch top for tomorrow – I cheated on this as it was sitting there since last year’s attempt at a blue sports shirt. So the girl doesn’t have to wear her regular uniform even though she suggested doing so.

The apple picking dress is just going to have to wait until Sunday when I am actually home with the sewing machine – and – it – will – get – done!

Meanwhile, I have to summon the last ounce of wakefulness I can muster for this evening and pleat something so I can sit there tomorrow and watch and stitch – a happy agreement I think.

Ha! What a cute idea for the e-book report dress. I guess if it came in my size it’d be the book on tape report dress, haha!

Or the audiobook report dress! Oh such creative names we can come up with!

I have managed to wriggle free of a day watching sport activities, although I was fully prepared to take my stitching with me, I only had four hours of sleep last night as a result of all that preparation so dh has kindly let me off and taken the kids instead. It’s his thing anyway so I’m not going to steal his thunder, plus I’d much rather stay home with my sewing machine as I can volunteer at school for other things but I am so not a sports nut!

So today it is getting the majority of the Apple picking dress sewn and hopefully making a start on the book report dress which Imogen doesn’t know I am making and hopefully she will consent to wearing it on school open night next week.

If I can accomplish that I will be very happy!
