Size 8 trench and one side of a large bucket hat cut out. I tried to cut the 12 but the thrifted fabric was too small :(, not overly surprised.

Hat week is over and ended on a somewhat disappointing note… My least favourite of the patterns I made, with some extra thick interfacing to give it shape, made for some very difficult setting in of crown and brim. I’m yet to blindstitch in the lining but I’m not very happy with it. It also looks enormous. This one may be destined for the bin…

    Oh no what a shame!

I had quite a productive day yesterday where I got the majority of the apple picking dress made before the kids got home from school (alot earlier than usual). Unfortunately, I slowed down ALOT after they got home. I had to put together a wooden train, break up an argument and try not to burn myself while lighting the barbeque before squeezing in some last minute redos of the plackets because the stitching looked good on the outside but was rather off putting on the inside.

Today is my 11th wedding anniversary and hubby has just announced he doesn’t want to go anywhere. So I guess I’ll be sewing.

    Happy Anniversary Tamara.

I made some Sleepover Pj’s tonight, leaving the pockets off saved quite a bit of time.

I have modified my modified Sketchbook trousers into Sketchbook skinny jeans,I just need to finish the pattern.

Zara had requested a new T-shirt for her birthday,a Field Trip Tee looks to be perfect. That will be the next to be cut out.

Happy Anniversary Tamara!! We always stay home too.

I am looking forward to see the skinny jeans!I have been planning pants for Sarah for winter and want different styles so I will be giving these a try.

Right now I am gettng ready to trace and cut out the Antoinette dress pattern (non O+S). I am a bit nervus about this one. The istrutions were in Dutch and hubby traslated them into English but it’s still a bit nerve racking. After these I need to go back a finish up some pj’s I started. Sarah and I bought a whole lot of buttons today just for these. (that and of course some fabric!) I have had two 2+2 skirts cut out for a while now I have been wanting to get to as well. We have had sick kiddos and one sick baby this past weekend so I have gotten behind on house work and sewing.

Thank you ladies! We ended up sticking to our plans for the day anyhow and it worked as I really needed to get to Spotlight!!

Your girls seem rather simple with their birthday wishes – my daughter has her list out and with some eye boggling stuff – I fear she will be disappointed.

Sharon is your hubby a bit clever or what? Translating patterns must mean he is either fluent or cheats using Google translate? Sound like alot of fun though. I have a few patterns in German to try out which would be a great challenge.

Today … I am going to finish off the apple picking dress, and start the next thing on the list.

Yes Tamara he used Google translate but he had to type it all in by hand seeing neither of us could figure out how to copy and paste the PDF. He is so sweet to do this for me. 🙂 .

    What a lovely man.

Clever man – I’d do that too! This is a supportive hubby for you.

Corrected the botched sleeves and unpicked and redid a bit of caught skirt and now all I have to do is sew on buttons and there is one complete dress – yay!

Now onto something else after being completely distracted by a vision of the Fairytale dress made sassy retro party dress which is earmarked for Iggy sqiggies birthday – can’t believe she’s hitting double figures! I have the full tick of approval after the rigmarole that went on yesterday regarding her chosen attire and now have to get her to choose the colour once I source that special fabric!

Dreaming over onto the business of sewing!

I finished up a table runner for my grandmother as a thank you for giving me her board for making bobbin lace. Planning on giving it to her next week when I take her grocery shopping … or maybe just drive out to see her on Tuesday with the girls.

Next up – Field Trip pants in pink twill for the 5 yo. Doing a size 8 as I haven’t prewashed the fabric. (I think a size 7 would fit her.) This might prove to be the stupidest idea I ever had. Wish me luck!

Ooooh pink field trip pants sound fantastic!

I’ve cut out my digital book report dress and am about to do another to sew up a the same time tomorrow.

I just finished taping up the bodice pieces of the Fairy Tale dress for muslin making. However it is now after the girls bedtime so there will be no tracing as I need to take their measurements before I decide what size to start with/grade to in Isabel’s case.

Ho hum, I think I’ll go make coffee and watch some Doctor Who reruns while hubby watches the aftermath of the Apple presentation online.

I’ve finished the first of two Book Report dresses. Stayed up burning the candle at both ends to do so as there is no time anywhere else at the moment to do anything. I managed to get Imogen to wear it last night for the School open night but I am yet to see photos of her in it as she ran from the time the car stopped to the time she got back in. It does look good on her but not as roomy as I thought it would be and we had a heap of comments.

The next one is the Book Report dress “with a twist” and will most likely be finished by the end of the weekend at the rate I’m going.

This afternoon I am working on making the doll’s dress in the stripe Ladies stitching club fabric and I’m hoping to have it finished TONIGHT!

I’ve been bitten by the sewing bug for my boys. Finished a pair of sandbox pants for both of them and now working on a field trip cargo pants and raglan tee for each of them. I’ve always stuck to just PJs for them and invested most of my sewing time for daughters of friends and families and an occasional dress for myself. It’s been really fun and fulfilling to sew some practical and great looking clothes for my little men! thanks Liesll and all you wonderful seamstresses that have inspired me to sew real clothing for my boys!

I need to share this with you all,

The other night my 21 month baby refuse to go to bed without her new Bedtime Story pijama! I could not be happier, to know that she loves something that I sewed for her is so fulfilling.

I sewed it in an IKEA fabric for kids, that I bought 3 meters for 8 euros, and it has animals from the woods, and she just loves it.
