What are you sewing now?

working on a pair of sleepover pjs for my little one’s birthday this coming week… in lightning mcqueen fabric… ohhhh the things we do because we love our kids eh?!
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesOh I can see a little boy wanting these pjs already! I am waiting for my patterns in the mail.
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI am repeating this phrase through gritted teeth this morning rastis – my six year old has developed an aversion to school (teasing from a class full of tricky boys) and was slightly hard to get going this morning
Sewing area has been transformed minus doors on the cupboard but this will have to wait until a dry spell when the tractor’s been idled down.
But I have finished the Prince of Araby costume and only have the headdress of IG’s harem girl costume to do and regardless of this have started cutting out and sewing four pairs of sleepover pajamas, 2 for each kid. Made two pairs of pants yesterday and will work on the others plus the tops tomorrow on my day off.
So nice to be sewing everyday clothing again.
12 years ago LINKkatybellabug @katybellabugI have just finished a Sailboat Top in 4T and have spent the evening cutting out a Sailboat Skirt in 6T (note: for the same child, one with long long legs so have to size up – I should have added more length to the top, but will know better for next time).
I’m using a dark blue denim for the skirt and made the top in a dark yellow print cotton. II loved how easily the top came together. I need more fabric so I can make another!!
12 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiI just purchsed the Tea Party pattern over the weekend after making two of the dolls dresses from LTTS last week. I am making a 3-6m sundress in purple, gingam for the top and plain for the bottom, from a thrifted pillowcase, for a dedication gift. I have about 5 more planned (including 2 playsuits). Such an easy pattern with beautiful results.
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI am hoping to make a few more tea party dresses myself for my 2year old. It is such a lovely pattern to make and they look great on her!
I will be taking a break from my everyday sewing today to make a tea party play suit for my baby-to-be. I got this idea stuck in head and I keep thinking that since it is already so hot out he needs a few more of these for when he comes home. π Then on to a belated mother’s day gifts for my mom and very speacial aunt. SHe lives in Florida so it will be late.
12 years ago LINKJess M. @mommy2mariaI have all these pretty fabrics in my closet waiting to be sewn and I have NO clue what I want to sew next! I even made a pillowcase for Maria yesterday to sort of clear my head. It obviously didn’t work.
I need some pants for M, and another 2+2, Swingset and Class Picnic Blouse. These have to be my favorites!
12 years ago LINKrastis @rastisjustsewit: i’m sorry your little boy is having a hard time at school π i’m having some similar grief at my little one’s preschool at the moment and it’s no fun… have you spoken to the school and teachers about it? i hope they’re working with you to resolve the issues… it’s awful watching children be unkind to each other π
12 years ago LINKWe are moving internationally in two weeks, and will be spending three months visiting family in the between time. So I really have to pack up the sewing machine. I promised myself I’d do so just as soon as I finished the last two bucket hats for my girls (but I just finished them an hour ago and now I’m really dying to make DD1 another pair or two of Sailboat pants instead … they do sew up quickly!!
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5Good luck with the move!
I am making Ice Cream blouses and a dress for presents.
Finally finished the Twins polo tops,I use velvet ribbon to bind the neck and MOP buttons to try and make them a little more interesting to sew.
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI just cut out a Swing Set skirt and a Play date dress for my little girl. She has been a little upset with me about sewing for baby brother so I think this will cheer her up! She was smiling last night as I was cutting out the dress telling me it was for her. π I have been wanting to make the play date dress for ever so I am super excited about.
12 years ago LINKLightning McStitch @LightningMcStitchI cut out a Hopscotch skirt last night (pattern stash busting!). At first I couldn’t make it fit my leftover scrap of fabric. Finally worked out a way to make it happen. Cut it out, showed hubby how clever I was and how there was only tiny threads of scraps leftover, then I found the front waistband pattern piece that i had forgotten….
A contrasting front waistband? Or a trip to the fabric shop for a bit more matching broadcloth? Hmmm
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I vote for the contrast, you know you will buy more if you go to the shop…..
12 years ago LINKLightning McStitch @LightningMcStitchShould I then add a strip of the same contrasting fabric and shorten the back panel of the skirt accordingly so the waistband is the same fabric the whole way around? A contrasting front-only waistband might look a bit weird…..
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I did it recently on some little jeans. I thought it looked cute. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/6864441730/in/set-72157627129971921
