What are you sewing now?

I have two Easter dresses cut out and ready to be sewn up. I am making the Bubble dress in sizes 2T and 3T in the Michael Miller Disco Dot in Bloom. I think the grey and pink is going to look so cute on my girls and I found the perfect ribbon for a tie around the waist. After those are done I am working on a Class Picnic top that length has been added to for a dress.
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesSounds so beautiful!! I can’t wait to see them!
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaI’m making an Easter bubble now too! The first and last time as I only have the small size. It’s blue silk dupioni. I can’t wait to see the gray and pink one!
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI just received the smallers sized bubble dress pattern in the mail yesterday and have my eye on making it. Someone pointed out it would make a beautiful christening outfit and I agree but I have these costumes still to do. I would still love to join in and sew a bubble dress though – for anyone but no one in particular just yet.
The colours sound amazing. I have pictures of what I’d do running through my head which doesn’t help with focussing on current tasks but oh well! May you all enjoy making those pretty dresses and showing them off. It sounds wonderful!
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI finished my 2 year old daughter’s Bubble dress for Easter but now I am wanting to make a light yellow one the same way but I must finish up on the boys’ clothes first. I had bought the fabric yesterday for teh boys’ sketchbook shirt but thought it would make a lovely dress too. The bubbe dress is so wonderful to make. 🙂 I can’t wait to start the yellow one!!
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizamy bubble is almost done. It’s silk, so I’m taking my time. But I get distracted thinking about other projects too. I actually finished some mother daughter tops last week! I’m just waiting on the pictures to share.
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitWell, one harem girl costume almost complete – just hook and eyes and velcro to sew on and make the headdress. I’m a little concerned about the size of the pants, I think I should have gone the extra size but it is too late now. Besides the production is next term so only a few weeks away.
Last night I whipped up the Prince’s pants using the Sleepover pyjama pants pattern, size 12 in gold satin. They look great so am hoping I made them baggy enough. The young boy I’m making it for fits between a 10 and a 12 so the extra size would fit the criteria a little better.
I’m about to lay the shirt pattern out before heading off to work and then I can work on that after the kids are in bed tonight and tomorrow have it finished for him to try at rehearsals tomorrow aswell. Then it is just the vest and gaining enough fabric to wrap a turban which I worked out how to do and I think we will have a costume.
Hoping to have the two completed by the end of the week but it will take every waking non working hour – just want to get it all finished before the end of term.
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5Costumes always take longer than you expect. Good luck!
I have one more pair of Bedtime Story pj’s to finish(a very late Christmas gift-or extremely early)?
I am cutting out another silk Family Reunion dress as a swop for a dear friend in some beautiful rich colours, very excited about sewing that.
I have four dear little Music Class blouses cut and waiting to be sewn(in City Weekend) and I STILL HAVE NOT SEWN the Twins polo tops for school.
Bad bad mummy!
Is it April the 3rd yet?
12 years ago LINKI am sewing some cloth napkins out of Valori Wells’ Karavan line. Love it. I also am planning to try New Look 6937 for myself, but am dawdling on cutting out the fabric for the muslin. I’m just having trouble motivating myself to sew up an ugly old sheet, but I know I have to do it. It will also be the first thing from a real pattern that I’ve sewn for myself and I’m a bit worried about making it fit me well.
I’d also like to do a couple more Class Picnic tops for my daughter but I haven’t decided what fabric to use yet.
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitStill going on the costumes. I have to figure out the sleeves of the shirt – trying to decided on cuffs or elastic. Unfortunately the Prince of Araby was a no show at rehearsals yesterday so will have to find out about that next week. I’ll do buttons on the shirt, hem it and make the vest in the meantime so when he does finally try it on he’ll have the whole lot to try instead of bits and pieces.
Just have to sew velcro on miss 9’s costume and make the hat which shouldn’t take longer than a day. If I can get this out of the way along with the vest on Friday, I want to celebrate and make a couple of pairs of pj’s for the kids over the weekend. The nights are getting cooler and they will soon need them.
I have decided to not bother finishing off the other school shorts that were botched in the sewing process. I’ll put them on the to do list for Spring and see how we go – and hopefully it won’t be in vain as my son is starting beam pole which means he’ll fit the size for another year yet.
The holidays mean packing up my sewing things as the area is getting a makeover and for the first time ever I will have a proper sewing nook all fitted out – can’t wait!
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesSounds so exciteing!!
I will be makeing a tea party sunsuit for a baby boy bay shower coming up. I have a few changes that have been stuck in head I have to give a try. I am wanting to add a button placket to the little legs and use button insted of snaps and place cuffs the the shorts too. Hopefully they will work out as well as it looks in my head.
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5A tiny Sketchbook shirt,so fiddly but so sweet!
I don’t want to give it to the recipient…..does that make me a bad person?
12 years ago LINKjanimal @janimalAs soon as I finish my Liberty of London Pieced Union Jack Popover Dress (!) and a dress so my daughter can look like Marina from the TV show “Fresh Beat Band” – I’m going to get started on trenchcoats. SO HAPPY to have this new pattern in my hands. I think a pink version for my daughter and a baby blue version on the little guy will be adorable in photos. Oooooh. I’ll take any fabric suggestions. I like the idea of pink and blue versions but perhaps with a little design on the fabric. Or maybe monogram the pockets?
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaa monogram would be a nice touch.
12 years ago LINKjuliamom2009 @juliamom2009Ok janimal – you absolutely have to post the Marina dress….my daughter LOVES her!!
