What are you sewing now?

Sounds like everyone is sewing along at a nice little clip. This past weekend I put away a few remaining winter fabrics that I had pulled out this fall but didn’t get to and started rummaging through my spring a summer fabrics. We still have a good month and a half at least before we put away the woolens but it’s so much fun and I like to get started early.
12 years ago LINKHi, I’m new, and obsessed 🙂 I bought the sailboat pattern less than a week ago and have already sewn all three items. I’m currently working on another sailboat top – knit and sleeveless, thanks to directions I found on this forum. Woohoo!
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitBeen running around like some crazy woman lately so tomorrow after I have made sandwiches for a clearance sale, sat and listened to endless sight word reading from the year one’s and helped with year 4/5 reading, I’m heading home to sew and finish up the botched uniform items.
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaI spent today sewing up the most wonderful little project ever. It’s just killing me not to share it! But it’s worth waiting for. Tonight I have to get on with another deadline project. What is everyone else working on?
12 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiI have just finished sewing up the lining (as a muslin) for my enlarged explorer vest. Now to see if it fits. Here’s hoping.
12 years ago LINKI’m working on a knit dress from an online tutorial. The combination of knit + no real pattern is really frustrating after my recent Oliver + S spree (I am mh2t on flickr). I want to do a Family Reunion but I haven’t found fabric in my stash that would be suitable. It seems to cry out for a delicate print. (Also am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Class Picnic pattern so I can make that blouse.)
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI’ve been working just lately so am still learning to juggle the sewing time in amongst everything else. As a result the botched shorts and skirts are still sitting there looking neglected and with the months marching by I have to crack on with them ASAP!
Right now though I have the handsewing left to do on an iPad cover I designed myself out of modern workshop scraps, template plastic and a bit of Pellon. I am hoping this will be the cushioning protection ample enough to resist any more damage to my newest gadget as it now no longer looks new thanks to sliding off the car bonnet onto the road whilst I was trying to find the keys and hold the kitchen sink at the same time!
I have the weekend off so I think my three days will be turned into catch up time with the sewing machines!
What are sewing?
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI have 4 2+2 tops cut out and a top and skirt of the swing set cut as well. Oh and a matching hat too! Aside from all this cutting out I have gotten done a baby boy jumper is calling my name. I have been thinking and plaining on how to alter the Tea Party play suit for this outfit and think I have it figured out now. I bought a cute paper airplain fabric for it. so excited about this one!!
What are you ladies going to be working on this weekend??
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaIf I finsih my other deadline sewing project (a superhero cape that is nearly done but the cheap satin keeps pulling through my seams, grr.) I have promised myself that as a reward I can maybe sneak down to fabric row and find some suitable shirting with which to dive into the new Lisette patterns I scored at Joann. Would you believe they were very nearly sold out? I got the last bag pattern and the last of the adult patterns in the larger size. A few other things I wanted were sold out (in larger sizes) too, especially the ones rated best of 2011/10. Guess you really do need to get to those sales early on!
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitMeleliza provided they have everything they advertise for the sale then yes, the earlier the better. The sale for the lisette patterns and fabric ends this weekend and I have been twice to my nearest Spotlight. Sometime I really hate being rural because out of all the fabrics advertised I. This range, they only have about six and none of the ones I’m after! Such a disadvantage. I’ll have to use mail order to get the deal and the prints but it isn’t the same as seeing the, there in the shop. You were so lucky to get those patterns. I don’t know if we have them yet – they certainly weren’t on display anyway.
Sharon is this print from the Children at Play collection? Oh it will be precious can’t wait to see it. Glad you are getting to know that it is still fun to sew for little boy babies as well as the girls.
It’s a long weekend on the east of Australia this weekend (holiday Monday) we had ours last weekend but I lucked out and had to work the holiday Monday (rail camp just across the road) so I am taking today as my “in lieu” long weekend day and plan to first tidy up the mess I’ve created before getting into the sewing. I can’t wait. Perfect idea to stay inside because we are having another heat wave.
Tell us of what awaits your sewing machine this weekend?
12 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaFinished my cape and my son just loves it. I took it to school pickup and he wore it home while I snapped pictures. All his little preschool friends loved it! I will auction off an identical one that will be customized for the winner. Soooo, I can do some sewing for me this weekend! I want to dive into the new Lisette blouse, but gosh, I just don’t seem to have anything in my stash that would work. How is that even possible? Maybe I can sneak off to fabric row on Saturday. There’s a shop with a great selection of fine shirtings.
12 years ago LINKWorking on some Afterschool Pants in charcoal fine-wale corduroy. I had to majorly alter the pattern sizing – 18-24-mo lengthened to 3T. Hope it fits her!
12 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I am tidying up some loose ends and finishing off some overdue Christmas(!) Bed Time Story pajamas and a Family reunion swop dress and then the new patterns should be released!
I have heard whispers there is a very special dress-woo hoo!
Now,which daughter to sew for first……..
12 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitThe top half of a harem girl costume and a pair of gold harem pants for a Royal character who is much smaller than his stand in.
Brought the pink pants to get the approval of the Musical Director yesterday and was met with young high school kids exclaiming “Miss, you’re good!” Makes me giggle to be called “Miss”.
Now I need to do a search for how to make a Turban.
12 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesOh the kids like it, that’s the best part! I can’t ewait to see the outfits done!
I am finishing up a easter dress today, a bubble dress done with a full skirt with a lovely lining skirt undre. The dresss has been done for few days now but it needs the buttons anbd some ribbon today to be done.
