I have just finished my first doll’s dress in a long long time!! Made for my 20 inch doll Matilda (Australian girl). I used the Liberty Girl dress pattern from Australian Smocking and Embroidery issue 63 (which is made for an American Girl doll). Fabric is Nicey Jane Welcome Road in the blue colourway and I made up the smocking design(because I didn’t like the original). Goes very nicely with her RED hair which is need of a bow of somesort. She’s going in the dressed doll section for the Royal Show this year – my decision obviously not her’s.
Took me three days of picking and unpicking with the awkward little seams but we got there without throwing in the towel. Now back to sewing for my living dolls.
13 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I need to put some cuffs on some school rugby’s for the twins(they grew in the wash, the jumpers not the girls) and hopefully start on a basket of Music Class skirts for all my girls.
One of only two patterns I haven’t sewn before so I am rather excited.
What are you sewing now?
13 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI have a million things I am wanting to sew with my new machine, but the next thing that is cut and ready is a bubble dress with the scallops, my little girl picked out the fabric and pattern for this one, and then the hopscoth shirt and skirt. My machine I have now sews knits so much better than my old. I am sew excited!!
13 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitThat sounds so exciting to be able to sew knits – lots of Hopscotch tops being made at your house I predict. Nicole the music class skirt is one of my favourites.
I have three lots of Class picnic blouses and shorts cut out and ready to go. I have to find the buttons I bought for another Sketchbook shirt (they are aqua and white striped to match the fabric) and sew them and the buttonholes and I have the finishing of a green corduroy hopscotch skirt to go on with.
Working on finishing some uncompleted items aswell as new projects. I found a red and white striped half made hopscotch skirt in a basket that I should finish in time for the warmer weather.
Lots to get on with.
13 years ago LINKthejennigirl @thejennigirlLast night I finished up 2 more Tea Party sunsuits & 1 Jumprope Dress.
Today I’m hoping to finish a 2+2 blouse, Music Box jumper, Birthday Party dress, Sailboat skirt, Playdate dress, Class Picnic shorts, & possibly a 2+2 skirt.
Also working on a Sketchbook shirt, Shetchbook pants, 2+2 short sleeve blouse, Tea Party dress, Jumprope view B dress, Family Reunion blouse, Family Reunion dress, Music Class blouse, Music Class skirt, Class Picnic blouse, Bubble dress, and a pair of pjs (non-O+s pattern)
13 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I am hoping to make the skirts today after spending 3 precious hours trying to get my overlocker-coverstitch machine to work(Don’t buy a combo)!!!!
Have booked it into my dealer on Friday to have him set it up,luckily we are heading to the city for dentist appointments.
Last night I sewed a trestle table cover from 2 wool bags, fitting and piecing, complete with bale staples and wool coming from the edges,to resemble an over size bale of wool, for our display at a ram sale.
Today I can barely move my shoulders it was so heavy and bulky to sew.
13 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesThe skirt is my favorite skirt pattern!! I love the pockets and pleats on the side. It so much detail on such a small thing!
13 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesOh, I just finished up a sweet pea’s bubble dress and a hop scotch top. I can’t believe I made a knit shirt!! Sweet pea loves it so much thta I can’t get it off of her, lol. I am hopeing to finish the skirt and maybe a hop scotch dress tonight, maybe.
13 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitToday is the first day of term for my kiddlies so I am making the most of the time until 4pm rolls around.
So Today I am going to do some more cutting out – 3 Sketchbook short sleeved shirts, enlarge the pattern slightly on the Jumprope dress and cut this out, another School Photo Dress and a Family Reunion dress and probably a blouse also (if there is time).
Hooray for hopscotch shirts and dresses! You won’t know yourself.
Hope the shoulders had a good massage Nicole and your machine behaves.
13 years ago LINKthejennigirl @thejennigirlBetween yesterday & today, I finished up a Music Box jumper, Birthday Party dress, 2+2 longsleeve blouse, and Playdate dress.
Still working on a Sketchbook shirt, Shetchbook pants, 2+2 short sleeve blouse, Tea Party dress, Jumprope view B dress, Family Reunion blouse, Family Reunion dress, Music Class blouse, Music Class skirt, Class Picnic blouse, Class Picnic shorts, Bubble dress, Sailboat skirt, 2+2 skirt, and a pair of pjs (non-O+s pattern)
I’m working 8 hour days this week, so I only get to sew when the kids are in bed. Getting there, though!
13 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesI going to have me pattern cutting party today. I am wanting to cut out a few jump rope dresses, both veiw A and B. Maybe a tea party or two. I seen last night on the flicker group the idea about the Charlie and Lola dress using the jump rope dress I have to try! I so love Charlie and Lola, before I had my daughter every time my son was watching this show or we were reading the books it would make me long so for a little cute girl.
13 years ago LINKNicole @motherof5I found a cut out Sketchbook shirt for Son&Heir when I went to get the Music Class skirts so I am working on that!
City Weekend(favourite) in Roundabout dots(I think) in blue with yellow collar and cuffs. Very, very, very LOUD but he chose it and loves it.
I hope to get the sleeves in today,I don’t get to do as much sewing this time of year as the farm is uber busy and the baby(toddler-really) only has one sleep and likes to play out side and go for long walks.
What are YOU sewing today?
13 years ago LINKthejennigirl @thejennigirlI had to do a major overhaul on a teensy wedding dress because a bride lost over 20 pounds in the past month and now she’s scary thin and needed her dress to still fit her.
Now, I’m altering 2 jr bridesmaids dresses (who, by the way, both gained a scary 20 pounds in less than 6 months, which at 9 years and 10 years, is SCARY) so that they will fit them.
Oh, and I’m also still sewing on the Sketchbook shirt, Shetchbook pants, 2+2 short sleeve blouse, Tea Party dress, Jumprope view B dress, Family Reunion blouse, Family Reunion dress, Music Class blouse, Music Class skirt, Class Picnic blouse, Class Picnic shorts, Bubble dress, Sailboat skirt, 2+2 skirt, and a pair of pjs (non-O+s pattern)
13 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitI have drafted and enlarged the bodice part of view a Jumprope dress and tried it on Missy 8 who was in one of her “moods” and wouldn’t cooperate. It was snug to get on her but once on it looked fine (from what I could see). She just hated it because it was calico and of course it wasn’t the real thing.
I’m a bit concerned though that it won’t be fitting her for long so am going to try and size it up further and experiment using the instructions that Carol linked in the other thread. Just going to have a bit of a play around to see what I can come up with so that I can at least know and have the reassurance that it will a) fit and b) be fitting for a little while.
I’m hoping my other patterns I bought are waiting for me tomorrow so that I can cut out a Pj set aswell.
So probably no sewing at all tomorrow but we shall see. I did none today as I had to go see about my ill mil – in hospital with “Cellulitis” serious but not deadly (thankfully).
13 years ago LINKAdrienne @AdrienneIn the past week I’ve made a lazy days skirt, a popover sundress, and a ruffled halter. I am a kindergarten teacher and should be getting my classroom ready for the new school year….but sewing with Oliver + S is so addicting!!!! ; ) So, I’ve made a deal with myself, I can’t start my next project until my classroom is done! I’m hoping this weekend to begin a Music Box Jumper! My classroom is nearly done….
