Oh Little Lisette, they are so cute. I must make that gorgeous Tuxedo shirt for Liddy this winter, Mel.
Masha, I think you have earned some selfish sewing, Sweetheart!
I really enjoyed sewing the Hide-and-Seek Lotta but I had to concentrate. There were those long seams to sew where everything had to be pinned out of the way. I caught my pocket bag a few times.
I want to sew that Scarf Heidi and Shelley, I have some butter coloured cashmere earmarked. Good to know I can email you two if I get stuck.
Melanie, it sounds divine. And I am sure it will be gorgeous. I do wish, sometimes, I could warrant sewing more dressy clothes. We don’t get enough wedding invites!
Good luck Tamara, I look forward to seeing some photographic evidence ;).
I have spent the last five hours on Zara’s jeans and have a front fly, two zipper pockets and some pieced knee pieces to show for it.
Its a Vogue pattern (why do they never give you finishing instructions)? and they are a ‘biker leathers’ style with fitted knees. I had some when I was feeding Tilly and a size nothing. I paid a fortune for them and now understand why. I thought the knees were just tucked but they are patch worked together.
20+ pieces to the pattern.
I am enjoying the sew though.

Meleliza, that coat sounds georgeous.
I might take a couple of photos of the bit I got stuck on, Nicole, for reference 🙂

I seen a pair like these on another blog Nicole, I can’t remember where but there are so cute!
I have slowly started on Caspian’s vintage over’all suit for Easter. I am starting with the over’alls first. The pattern is from the 50’s and so darling. I really am looking forward to sewing for my baby boy.

Sharon, are you making the one from Sew Beautiful? That was really lovely. I wish I had known about that style of stuff when my boys were babies. They’re entirely too old for it now. I want to try that smocked Easter dress one year, though the one that was on the cover recently. I think you did it.

I sewed until 11 pm and then woke Zara up for a fitting (bad mummy) on her jeans. I had to take them in a lot so I am glad I did. Either my measuring is seriously dodgy or this pattern has a lot of ease.
I had to do it last night as she wants to wear them tomorrow and has netball training tonight.
Sharon, I do love your baby boy things, I use to dress Hugo like that. He had more smocked outfits then the Twins!
Melanie, your boys have that lovely gentlemen look. You do have the Art Museum don’t you?

meleliza, I was going to use this pattern but I found a vintage pattern I liked way better for him. It’s a Butterick 1950’s pattern. The jacket reminds me of the original Peter rabbit which at the moment Caspian loves so I just have to make this for him.
Sarah will wear her dress from last year , yes it was from the cover. I used the Fairy tale pattern and with Tamara’s help I was able to adapt the pattern for the smocking. It was much easier than I thought it would be! It is still mine and Sarah’s #1 favorite dress I have made her. I was very surprised the other day that she ask if she could wear her “pink princess” dress again this Easter without knowing I was planning on her wearing again this year. (lucky me that I don’t have to talk her into it!)
The three older boys will wear the sketchbook shirts from last Easter and the pants which I had planned on making last year. The two middle boys brown sketchbook pants are done all I have to sew is Jacob’s now. I had planned on making the three older boys the Art Museum pattern but I don’t want to push myself too much right now. I am feeling much, much better but I am still getting tired pretty easy.

Smocking looks wonderful on little boys. Noah had smocked rompers as a baby and I made him several button on suits thanks to the lovely Australian smocking and embroidery. I think they look classic and just gorgeous. After all for special gear you want just that – something special. The last smocked item I made him was a t shirt featuring a picture smocked helicopter. It was so beautiful I couldn’t part with it one he outgrew it so it is in the box of keepsakes.
I have now been told that this assembly item for which Imogen needs to dress as a member of the jury is on Friday. That means I have to abandon all hopes of sewing for myself this week and make boardies plus something “presentable”! Grr! I wish i had had a note weeks ago. I also have been informed that I need to make a shark costume for next week’s social! That one came from master Noah who is torn between being “bruce the shark” so he can scare the kids away from the food or a pirate. I vote pirate – ten thousand times easier!

I’m new here and I need help PLEASE. I am making the Puppet show tunic for my granddaughter and I am total confused with step 3 in the page 4 attaching the lining back. I have done linings before but I can’t get my head around how it all goes together, I have walked away and come back I spent hours cutting the shorts tunic and a bucket hat for Mia and was hoping to be able to give them to her on friday when she visits.

I think I have successfully been able to divert a potential late night sewing project for another time that is more suitable for the energy levels. Imogen has an assembly item tomorrow and only told me she needed something presentable two days ago. Well i have just cut out a skirt from the fabric she chose but the voile for the top doesn’t seem suitable for a school item (of course being white based and rather transparent) so I have just rummaged through her wardrobe and pulled out two items handed down from her older cousin. And so now I can rest without having to meet an unreasonable deadline – and we pulled a very old pair of boardies out of the “attic” also. They are a bit big but again it saves the day she doesn’t get to be the only one not wearing boardies and everyone is happy to go on their way.
The skirt I cut out can be put in the to do pile for next week I think. And tomorrow instead of sewing for someone else I will be sewing (or at least preparing to sew) for me!

Drink lots of coffee Tamara and good luck! I know you’ll get it done in time.
Well no sewing yet on Caspian’s vintage over’alls. I was wanting to use some buttons that my grandmother sent me (they are vintage too) but I need 8 and didn’t have enough matching ones that I liked so I have not sewn a stitched yet. I really have to have them before I start sewing on these due to some of the button placements. So today I plan on going up the road to check out the vintage buttons there. The woman has some of the most beautiful buttons there!

No the plan has changed and I changed my message as you posted yours Sharon. I am quite happy actually. I hate doing late night sewing with a deadline. It means I can put the skirt aside for next week and enjoy preparing to sew for myself – at last!
Good luck sourcing the buttons.
