My 6 year old can’t get destruction, instruction and construction straight. He’s always mixing them up, though with his personality, it’s often more appropriately called destruction after all. If he ever gets it right. I will kind of miss it.

I had the Traveler pattern out, the gray Swiss dot fabric prepped, and was all set to spend nap time yesterday cutting. And then I got into a car accident. I am fine, the other guy is fine (as he should be, he was in a Hummer!) no one was in the car with me, but the car is nearly totaled. So no cutting was done during the day and after the kids went to bed (my husband was still at work), I was so upset at myself for the whole thing that I just went to bed too.

Maybe I’ll get to it today. Just kicking myself.

Thank goodness you’re Ok. Especially when you’ve effectively crashed into a tank*. Bed sounds like a good place to spend the afternoon.

*(as a cyclist I hate overly big cars where there’s just no need for them)

Glad to hear your OK, RTWG. Sleep, rest and let your system relax again 🙂

    Oh Sweetheart!

A strong sweet cup of tea and a good sleep is the best thing for you.

I am with you Shelley, I drive on dirt roads everyday and manage in a Tarago.

I made a Stitch Society Forget-me-not jewellery pouch today. Its a lovely sew and I am not crafty at all and I managed it.

My local Health Sister asked me to make a keepsake for her niece from the scraps from her late sisters wedding dress.

My husband went to school with the bride-to-be’s late mum so I wanted to help.

I had no idea what to make and then of one of my sewing gal pals suggested this pattern.

Oh Masha honey! Thankfully the kids were not with you and that you are not hurt! Even to have a prang (a little bump, say into a tree) can shock the system. You are insured I take it?

Big cars belong on gravel roads and not in cities – unless you live on a dirt road and are dropping kids to city schools or doing business trips!

I have slept the day away also. But I didn’t have an accident. I have just had an emotionally exhausting week and needed to catch up on sleep that was denied at the usual sleeping hours. It is a great way to recuperate the body and to put an end to potential illness etc.

So you rest up RTWG and take your time – you will know when you will be ready to get back into it again.

So as a result, the sewing table is still piled with notions that are yet to be sorted and the machines are still sitting patiently on the floor. Sewing fills me with joy and I need joy right now so the sooner I get the clutter out of the way, the sooner the therapy will begin.

Going to Spotlight tomorrow to do some fabric shopping for selfish sewing plus curtains! I need curtains!

Masha, I am so glad you are ok and no one was hurt x (more dislike of oversized cars from me too)

Masha, I’ve been there. It sucked. Thankfully the police officer who attended the accident was really kind. The insurance agent was not as understanding. Feel better, and be kind to yourself.

So glad you are okay! Scary!

Sewing time is limited here, but I really feel like I need to get something new and dressy made for the kids for summer/easter wear. I have some gorgeous white lawn/shirting with a woven tone-on-tone check and some gold satin piping. I want to make something “soft” and not too dressy for my 6year old, but am having a heck of a time picking a pattern or style. She’s at that in-between stage where some styles look too young and others too old. I thought she was going to wear a liberty smocked bishop for easter but she tried it on and it didn’t look age appropriate. I hemmed it and she’s been wearing it as a nightgown. Kinda extravagant compared to the oversized tshirts my kids normally wear, but at least it is getting some wear. For the boy, I still want to make a blazer. But, if I am sewing for an easter deadline it will be a vest instead.

It worked out that we have had house guests every other week since early Feb. Though, we’ve had some fantastic visits with family and friends…I am looking forward to some days in my pajamas holed up in the sewing room.

I’m glad you are not hurt, Masha. I had a wreck last year and it was so upsetting. Hope all goes smoothly with repairing/replacing your car.

I love it being holed up in the sewing room. Although I haven’t spent time in there in my pj’s yet. I have just knocked off from doing a stint of more sorting/ ditching/ cleaning and putting away. I finally have the machines on the table and save for a small pile left to figure out what to do with, I think I can safely say I can now sew! On Sunday that is, after I have spent the day tomorrow avoiding power cuts and shopping in Spotlight. I think it is time to make that shirt and actually sew the green skirt before it gets too big and ends up in the “I don’t know what to do with this pile”.

I have three weeks of sewing time before visitors invade the space. So I have to make the most of it.

Thanks everyone. We should have clarity soon about the extent of the damage to the car and how long it will be in the shop (or if it is just wrecked). We were planning to sell it before we move in three months so if it is wrecked we will have to figure out some short-term solution – I am quite a chauffeur mom here so I need wheels!

I did manage to get a lot done on that Traveler today; hope to have it finished by the end of the weekend.

So sorry, Masha, wreck are so upsetting. I hope insurance works in your favor. Glad to hear your Traveler is coming along nicely.

    I think you are amazing!

    Take care.

MC, now you are back working sewing time would be even more precious.

Perhaps post a piccie of your fabric in the pool and we can all have a peep and make suggestions.

Your daughter is getting very grown up looking, she is lovely!
