    Love Jimeon!

Oh no, I hope not too much food has been wasted?

15 years later and he’s a lot more Aussie now!

Thanks. We keep a pretty mean fridge, and shop often and local, so nothing more than milk wasted but my Selfish Sewing Week beers got a bit warm.

Lighting, it’s very frustrating to loose the power and not be able to sew. I’m planning sewing for me next week as I had birthdays to sew for this week. I have one more petti skirt to sew and then a week of sewing for me! Anyone else miss this week and want to sew for yourself next week?

I wonder if there will a generator incentive like there was for solar panels? All I can say is I would feel your pain often enough with power outages but thank God I have a generator as pain relief!

    Selfish sewing! If only.

I managed to finish of the sewing part of the floral library dress and tried in on miss Imogen when she came home from school. I may have to do some alterations to the width of the bodices later on but for now it will be ok and it looks really good on her provided she doesn’t go lifting things up in front of her.

I also started a Playtime dress in a dark red panne velvet and I used a woven scrap for the facings as my machine detested the knit I had chosen.

I will work on finishing this tomorrow and it will probably be worn once as it will heat up next week but will come in handy when we are in Perth during the holidays as chances are it will be cool enough down there.

I want to get on with these Art museum trousers and if I am lucky fit in a bit of time to sew some t shirts. If that fails I will have the, cut and ready but I hope to have lots of things birthday wise sewn to at least the button stage so I can work on the, when I’m away from the machine.

I am hoping that I can squeeze in an extra day – having car issues and are waiting for a part so it is a good excuse to stay home and sew for another day I think.

I lost momentum on my sewing. My husband is away this week but dance class, flute class and animation class keeps on trucking as usual so there is a lot of “driving around and reading while waiting on kids” going on.

I finished a cross stitch project I had going on ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/isabeldecibel/9882690195 ) and I am thinking about starting something new but I can’t decide on what. I’m not all that eager to sew another TARDIS.

Still mentally working on Isabel’s Library-like dress. At least that’s what I tell myself.

I have still not started the sewing part on the Field trip pants for Garrett yet, I need rethread my serger first and I have been under the weather for the past two days has not helped either. I hope to start tackling them today.

On the bright side, I have a few things I am planning on for myself. I have a fabric stash and patterns ready for me after I finish G’s pants, Sarah’s and Caspian’s Halloween costumes and then two corduroy dresses for Sarah. The plan is two skirts, a pair of shorts (yes even though it is cool out), pj bottoms and three tops at least.

My black snaps came in the mail today so I could finish the wrap Hula Hoop skirt I needed for a birthday this afternoon! I am working on another petit skirt, the colours of this one remind me of the ocean.

I’m three quarters the way through a soft denim pair of Art museum trousers. The bartacks aren’t behaving and sending my sanity round the bend! I plan to complete them fully tonight and then get on with something else.

You guys are beasts! Incredible, the amount of sewing that gets done. I have been finishing up UFOs from so long ago, half the seams are serged and half finished on the sewing machine.

Sarvi, I do agree; these super productive women make you tired, don’t they? If you want to be really impressed with sheer industry, check out Sharon’s camoflage clothes for her boys on Flickr. The fabric alone would drive me crazy or blind just looking at it! But I envy your nobility of soul, Sarvi – going back to UFOs requires real discipline/will power. Had to exercise a little myself this weekend – cutting out and sewing a new top for Miss 6 to replace the turquoise cord 2 + 2 blouse that was too small for her (thanks to grandpa’s measuring). I decided to a sailboat top because it’s quicker, and because I haven’t made it before. I’m planning to make several for another Miss 6 who is off the the States next month; however, her mother would prefer the sleeves to be short. Has anyone done this? Did you just chop them off, or would you suggest I use another sleeve pattern? In which case, which pattern’s sleeve goes best? I’ve also cut another size 4 popover sundress because getting things delivered to this particular little girl is tricky, and the family will be close by on Sunday.

Main challenge lately has been altering and cutting a size 4 seashore dress – because I’m using a lovely cream elephants on gold fabric for the main front/back panels, and stripey fabric for the rest. Lining up the elephants took quite some time but I’m hoping my hard work will pay off later. Better get back to it. So glad everyone is so well occupied, and pleased to hear you are planning some things for yourself, MK.

PS: I checked out your cross stitch, and the gorgeous pink/white library dress, Latte. Both are very impressive, and I can quite understand that several Tardis are more than enough!

Haven’t quite finished off the pair of trousers seeing as the young master decided to strike on being compliant. Instead I have been working on a vest to match, made from the urban grit colour way of the spectacles print by Michael Miller. Paused to have some sustenance and stick the telly on (for those few footie fans in the house – and those who only watch grand finals featuring west australian teams aka ME!). I just thought I would also take the liberty to check any results that might be up on the royal show website (because I cannot contain myself and need prior knowledge). The little white library dress got a first and also my quilt (not the appliqued one as I didn’t finish that one) but my Edwardian day gown with all that lace got nowhere. Ah well! The prize money will console me I am sure.

Ok, now to show the child that screaming at the telly thirty seconds into the game is not the best thing to do before I go lock myself away again and finish off this vest. He might be more compliant to fit the elastic after the game.

One Art museum vest finished! Now onto another library dress.

Congrats on your firsts in the Show, J! – pity about the Edwardian lace number. What will you do with it? I’m looking forward to seeing them all, and the Vest with the Specs on Flickr eventually. I watched a little of the Grand Final too this arvo – only because it was the GF, and I had an interest in both teams. I was pleased to see that Fremantle gave Hawthorn a real run for their money; although they lost. Slowly finishing first Sailboat top; a bit tired and nearly sewed hem facing to the wrong side of the garment – luckily caught myself before I did.

Did my first “unsupervised” full bust adjustment last night. And if you follow the directions, it actually works. Much prefer sewing for Sophie where the only adjustment is hemming. It’s funny how in the beginning I wouldn’t sew things with sleeves, or buttons or zippers. And I didn’t even know about the joys of plackets, welt pockets and linings. Sewing is quite the adventure, isn’t it?
