Hi there, thankfully much cooler since last night, and today was breezy enough to bring my place down to reasonable temp – ready for next onslaught from Monday. Thanks for info abt Vintage A-line. Yes, I’ve seen the Enid Gilchrist books but I’ve never been a fan of drafting from a graph. Did it once to make a christening frock- which turned out beautifully after 3 solid weeks’ work- but never again. I kept feeling obliged to re-check the measurements. I admire your perseverance.

Sympathy for MK, and jstsewit; sick babies, and uncooperative “things” – both can put such a kink in a happy life. Hang in there, Justsew; I’m confident you’ll beat it eventually. From my limited experience of uniforms, most tunics/dresses for girls have a hefty proportion of polyester in the fabric used; to limit ironing, stop creasing, and because, so I’ve learnt over the years, polyester is easier to ‘treat’ for dirt repelling in the factory. Unfortunately, we all know the downsides of polyester. Have you actually got the pattern yet/seen the uniform’s design yet? This is all becoming more complicated than “Blue Hills”, isn’t it?

I’ve nearly finished the 18mth size dress in the owl fabric left over from the Ice Cream dress I made a month ago, and I’ve finally received the skirt measurements I needed. I’ve cut out the skirts for the 2 yr and 5 yr old, and am pleased to realise that the pique is 54″ wide, so there is enough to left over to combine with other fabrics for some other lucky little girl in the future. The pinks are so lovely, and true. I really want to make the playsuit, too but as it’s nearly Sunday, I only have another 5 days to do all this, and the less than lovely demands life makes will further limit sewing time. Sometimes I wish I didn’t need to sleep – and not feel tired, of course. Pictures eventually. Dear MK, I really hope your little man feels a lot better soon; so tiring for you, and PC.

I don’t know really what it looks like just yet – which is the most frustrating thing. But I thought I could adapt the Jumprope dress pattern to suit as I have enlarged it. If it doesn’t work then I will just have to go in search of another one. Its no big deal just a little time consuming thats all.

Cant wait to hit the nook running tomorrow.

Sounds like a plan – both for uniform, and ‘the nook’

Needlewoman, it can be a pain drafting, especially from the grided enlarge patterns, I have found these one’s much easier as it doesn’t use the grid system just a set of measurement and some right angles, I also had the advantage that the first 2 books I got had almost all the patterns already drafted onto old newspaper and the patterns are still in working order! I think this is because they were stored in a dark cupboard inside the books.

I finished my 12-18m tea party dress with invisible side zipper, it worked beautifully and I’ve got pictures coming.

Baby C is feeling much better this morning, thank you ladies! It was a rough couple of days for him. Yesterday I did all my cleaning holding him so I couldn’t get to cleaning the bathroom or mopping done but it can wait till Monday. 🙂

Today I have three sets of the Sleepover pj’s to make/finish. G’s birthday is Tuesday so I not sure if I’ll get his reading tent done but I sure will try. I have to make a cake, cookies and cupcakes besides a birthday dinner for him. I am hoping to get the cookies started today.

Glad C is feeling better again Sharon! N seems like he is coming down with one now but this is due to swimming in a pool and he gets the, often from pools. Nothing a bit of on hand medicine can’t soothe. We will see how he is in the morning before seeking medical attention. Doctors are so hard to locate in this area even though we technically have one, it is the ways of a regional area that is large.

    T shirts tomorrow! Can’t wait!

Little J tried his pjs on and they look marvellous! I am allowed to post a “headless shot” I’m the group so stay tuned.

Tamara, have you made the swimming set for N yet? I have been thing about this amd I wanting to make one for C for summer time. Now we are in winter right now so no rush on my end but I have some really fun monkeys surfing fabric that I am wanting to use for his truncks. I might have to make these before the end of the month. 😉

I enjoyed making the class picnic blouse so much, I want to make 3 more assembly line style. I’ve never tried that, but my days of quilting have given me practice making multiples.

I am working through my unmade O+S patterns. I think the Ice Cream dress is next on the list. I believe I will have to conquer my fear of buttonholes…soon…maybe.

I will be trying do the same Maggie, sew through all my O+S patterns that I haven’t used yet. The Ice Cream dress is so cute! This is one pattern that I don’t have yet.

Heidi, and justsewit, can’t wait to see pictures of TParty dress, and a headless child. Maggie – you’ll love the ICream dress – no buttonholes for one. Pleased to know that music class blouse sews up easily; don’t have that pattern yet, but really like the skirt that goes with it.

I am hemming uniform pants. Again. Because he has grown well over an inch. Since November. I’m making them about a 1/2″ too long so I don’t have to do this again before April.

I have just the hem to do on a blouse for me, but I must admit I’m a little sick of this project. The fabric was really fine and frayed a lot and was just kind of a pain. I’m not sure it turned out how I wanted, but maybe if I leave it for a while and let the annoyance wear off I’ll like it better.

Needlwoman you will love the Music class pattern! It is one of my favourites.

Inbetween settling the fish into their new home, t shirt sewing today will be top of the agenda. Lots of Hopscotch and Field Trip t shirts and also some Ottebre 301’s. I may even cut leggings also just so there are some in the wardrobe.

I have another seam guide for the coverstitch machine so I am ready to sew!

I finished all five of my WHS dresses (and the skirt I found)! Now I can use the box to store knit/fleece that I don’t want to wrap around boards. I was thinking Meleliza, if your shirts too much of a pain to hem by turingn up the hem twice, maybe use some 1/2 bias binding (the type that is not folded in half again once its made), as this will finish the hem and encole the raw edge.

Maggie, good luck with you button holes!

The fabric was fraying rather badly so I turned it up a 1/4″, stitched and trimmed. I plan to hand hem it, but may just finish it off with the second half of a baby hem. I’m trying to like it again and figure out which cardi I can wear it with. Feeling awfully large after the holidays and not interested in seeing myself in ANYthing. 🙂

It was too hot yesterday so I just lazed around and searched online for more possible school fabric. I’m wondering if I could get Spoonflower to make me some up if I can’t find any. A thought that crossed the heat drained mind!

Side tracked and cleaning the nook because it is DEES-GUSTING! After lunch I will sew because I have already assembled the train track of choice and sorted the Wii remotes out so now it is my turn to do what I like!

T-shirt cutting out and sewing – aim cutting 4 and sewing 10! And none with fancy sleeves this time.

So hot I don’t feel like moving!
