Lotta it looks absolutely awesome! Such a lot of work but so very worth it don’t you think? What colour are you having the sewing room walls?
10 years ago LINKlattemama @lattemamaThank you! I’m so happy with the result, and I’m even happier that it is done!
The sewing room will have white (with a slight pinkish tint) walls (3 of 4) and one dusty pink wall. It’s a dark turquoise now so it will be quite a change. I’m patching up a few holes tonight, sand and mask off the windows tomorrow and paint on Friday afternoon.
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitSo is that the extent of the makeover for the room then? The room will look light with the colour scheme and you will most likely want to spend every waking non working moment in there. Sounds so exciting!
It’s so nice to hear of renovation plans actually happening. Ours haven’t even started yet.
On the upside though, our new dining table has arrived. We just have to find a way to fit it into our teeny tiny dining room.
10 years ago LINKlattemama @lattemamaWell, I’m getting some new furniture as well since the stuff I have now won’t work in the new room. Once I leave my current room Rickard is taking over that for his hobby projects (computer programming and hardware design) as he’s a bit cramped in the closet now.
I’m having serious withdrawals from not sewing for over a month now. There are so many projects floating in my head now I’m sure I won’t know where to begin once I’m moved in.
10 years ago LINKThe renovation looks amazing!
I seem to have dived nose-first into selfish sewing. I used to dream about sewing for my girls, now, honestly, I dream about sewing for me! I bought three blouse patterns this week – New Look 6808, which is a dressier top with front darts; New Look 6781 and Simplicity 2447. The latter two are yoke-front shirts, which is my very favorite style. After tackling the Lisette Traveler I feel ready for a new challenge!
Now off to find fabric for the blouses … my “me” fabric stash is definitely lacking 😉
10 years ago LINKTamara @justsewitYou know that is just really great how you want to be able to sew for yourself RTWG. The fact that we drive our sewing lives around our kids so much means that when they get too big we will be faced with the dilemma of what or who to sew for. Its great I think that you are choosing to extend your skills and sew for yourself. Its something we women (some of us anyway) with kids tend to put aside too fast. I am one of them.
Lotta, have you got the to do list ready to put up?
I am spending the weekend (long weekend here) doing muslins and getting them right for the three lisette patterns I have picked to work on. I swear I have the Traveller pattern somewhere but it has disappeared since I reorganised my pattern stash. I hope I can find it so I can do that one too. It will save time as I won’t be doing alot of sewing in February – it will be moving month!
10 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaAfter a long weekend working with my web guy (and learning a little about why husbands and wives should maybe not work together) I have launched my brand new website! If you look, you may recognize a broderie Fairy Tale dress on the right. http://www.mwatsondressmaking.com/home.html
(The center dress is Clever Charlotte’s Olivine and the left hand one is a Threads for Simplicity pattern. More details soon.)
10 years ago LINKMelanie, the blog looks great! How many clients do you take on in a given time period, and how are you getting the word out?
Coincidence – I started a sewing blog this weekend (though mine is not as polished as yours – my husband isn’t a web guy 🙂
10 years ago LINKmeleliza @melelizaThank you! I like your blog too. I’ve been neglecting mine while I worked on all this, but I do need to attach one to the new website. I’ve only been taking very few and random orders up to this point, mostly from friends. My goal for now is only 2 a month. I’m having a launch party and trunk show in a few weeks and basically invited just about everyone I know with daughters. School friends, ballet class friends, old mommy group friends, Facebook friends and anyone they’d like to bring and anyone I meet between now and then. After that there will be ads or donations to school auctions, partnering with photogs, cankers, invitation people, etc. I don’t know what else yet. Any thoughts are appreciated!
10 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiOh wow, look at your lovely blogs!
10 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiI was visiting friends yesterday and noticed their son’s shorts. I often check out clothing details to get inspiration. I thought “I love the double top stitching at the hem, the yellow is unusual but totally works with the fabric. Oh, and there’s an extra seam on the front under the pockets that also has contrast stitching! And cargo pockets! Again more top stitching. I love the look of that pale denim and it looks like it would wear well, they must be new in that condition.” A couple of minutes later he moved slightly and I saw the contrast fabric on the pocket flaps and realised I had made those shorts at least a year ago and that he wore them regularly over the last 2 summers! They were Field Trip Cargo shorts!
10 years ago LINKLOL, Heidi! Those shorts have stood up to their toughest critic, then! How funny.
10 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love HeidiHee, hee ,hee! Toughest critic! 🙂
