These are my thoughts but I’m no expert. 🙂
The 10 definitely looks too big in the shoulders.
Even the 8 is borderline. Technically with a 35″ high bust you should do a size six, but the 8 is probably doable if the 6 seems too extreme. On the cup size. Your full bust is 38 and the finished measurements of the size 8C cup is only 38.5″ which is…[Read more]

Hi there, I’ve finished a muslin for the B6526 crossover sweater in a woven (but I will sew in a knit). The fit is actually great and if I didn’t want to modify it I would be good to go.
However, I want the bodice front to be more drapey like the attached pic. To achieve that, would I just add an even 3″ strip at center front?
I tried that but it…[Read more] -

The muslin in the pics is the size 8 C cup? Can you post the other pics too? What are all of your measurements?
In general, if your shoulders fit but the bust is tight, you need more room in the bust (either an FBA or go up in the cup size).

One last thing. I pinned the muslin to the center line and it is clearly too tight. Its seems to have a natural gap of about 3/4 inch at the top increasing at waist to 1.5 inches.

Hi friends at Liesl & Co. I followed Masha’s suggestion and sewed a muslin of the Saint Germain in size 10 B cup and then in what my high bust is (35″) in Size 8 C cup.I took photos of all side of each. I am a bit intimidated as to where to go from here.
the 8 seems to fit in the shoulders and neck area much better, however it is still tight at…[Read more] -

Gina replied to the topic How to insert sleeve in Chai tee in the forum liesl + co: chai tee 5 years ago
Wow Amie-thanks so much!!! The way you worded it was so helpful. Made perfect sense. I think I could have reread the directions a million times and never got that out of it! Not criticizing the directions at all-it’s just my brain doesn’t think like that. The sleeves turned out great! Yay for completing a top. Not perfect, but definitely wearable.…[Read more]

Hi Gina! I can help you. Your going to cut the sleeve piece. Fold it RST so the smallest (c shape) is lined up and just stitch the C Shape.
Now, lay it in front of you so the C shape is on your right and the fold is on your left. It’s still RST.
What you have is a tube. Fold is on the left. C shape on the right. Open on top and bottom. RST s…[Read more]

So I’m making the Chai tee and it has been going very well up until now. I cannot figure out how to insert the sleeve. I have inserted sleeves before, but this is so different I can’t figure it out. I folded and it and should I only be pinning one side? Then what? It looks like from the picture after it’s folded that that side is open, but mine…[Read more]

Amie replied to the topic Test square 1/16” too small. iPad-iBooks and Adobe in the forum liesl + co: classic shirt 5 years ago
By the time I paid for plotting and shipping it wouldn’t be affordable. With the 50%off sale going on, I just ordered the paper pattern and the cheapest shipping. I just hate the PDF pattern won’t work out. I print patterns all the time and have never had an issue until this one. If I order any more patterns from here I will be sure to order the…[Read more]

Hi Amie @quilterbee
Please don’t ignore that printing discrepancy. While 1/16″ doesn’t seem much, if you have, for example, a 40″ bust measurement, then the difference ends up being 2&2/2″
That’s definitely enough to end up with a completely wrong sized garment.
One thing I’ve sometimes found works is to print my pattern setting the printer to…[Read more] -

Sewing for Yourself 5 years agoThanks for the quick reply.
I think I will redo B6567 in rayon or similar fabric. I really like like the look of it. As for the sewing, I can figure the seam finishing since I’m more experienced now. I do need to think and figure places to baste especially around the seam pockets and neckline. Also, I already have B6567 traced out on tracing…[Read more]

You can absolutely do that. Take a look at the Recital Shirt for an example: we offered more of a tuxedo-style band collar for that one, which is basically the collar band with a little point added. I hope that helps!

Sewing for Yourself 5 years agoTough call, right? The style lines on both are very similar, you’re right. The only real difference is in the neckline, which has gathering in the Cappuccino as opposed to the flatter panels of the Lisette pattern. I think it has to be your call, really. The important part will be to find the right fabric. I’d look for a rayon or a drapey silk,…[Read more]
