HALI MUNDY replied to the topic problem matching up back pants piece with bottom back panel in the forum oliver + s: field trip 8 years ago
I have version 3 of the digital pattern of Cargo Pants. I am also having the same problem as someone from three years ago.
The bottom of the back pants does not fit with the top of the bottom back panel. I have checked orientation and the pattern.
I do not see any errata about it.
I can cut the sides down, but wonder why there is no fix for…[Read more] -

I have been given the lovely task / challenge of making a dress for a friend’s little daughter (1 year old) – using African wax cloth, which is rather stiff! I was hoping that the Building Block Dress book, which I have just bought and received, would give me some good ideas, but it doesn’t (at first read) talk very much about how to match up your…[Read more]

Ava started the topic making a blouse from the block in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 8 years ago
If you want to make a blouse similar to the butterfly blouse style, do you just extend the bodice more into an A line from the building block book? I see there is a option to change the back to one similar to the butterfly blouse. Hoping to do a blouse with a bell sleeve, just want to get an idea of the proportions of the blouse compared to the…[Read more]

@lisachawk so sorry to hear about your difficulties with the pattern.
That definitely sounds like something is off. Are you working with a digital copy of this pattern? If so, be sure to check the scale measurements on the copy you printed to make sure that it has been printed true to scale. You also might want to check the finished measurements…[Read more]

Ugh. So frustrating when that happens!! It’s happened to me. The best I can suggest is to look at the “finished garment” measurements and see what size is best for your body, plus ease. And sew and Muslim draft — to get the right fit.

I made the Bistro dress with short sleeves in a size 8 and it was so small! It was more like a size 4. It fit my sons girlfriend who is tiny. The arms were so tight on me? It doesn’t look like the arm size changes much on other sizes? Any suggestions? The picture below is of my sons girlfriend not me.
Thank you

Hi @thesimpson5 I think you are on the right track. Even though I have always had the opposite issue of having to go out a size over going in a size. The method is just the same, gradually take the line into the 4 from the waist. Although, because it is a pleated style there will be volume when sitting etc as part of the design, you could try just…[Read more]

Yes, I had the same drag line from the shoulder. I pulled out my Fit for Real People book to take a look at how to fix it, but haven’t tried it yet. I’m so glad to see it worked well for you!
