Thank you so much Jay. It was a great send off and we didn’t get home until almost 11pm – I don’t think the kids will make it to school today.
I was wondering where you were. Seeming to be offline for a little while and assuming life had taken over. Does this mean with the transition beginning and Chris in the states already that you have to do…[Read more]

those are all so lovely, thanks!!
i think they are so big now the music class blouse/puppet show shorts is no longer appropriate…(cue psychological evaluation of what it means that I want to dress my only kids to look younger, ha!) . But perhaps just the shorts could work. I just realized I don’t have their size though, I only have the…[Read more]

Hey all, I’m popping in very quickly to say hello. We have 2 1/2 weeks left in Canberra, and we’ve just had 3 weeks with Chris in the US. Audrey’s early birthday party is tomorrow so I’m crazily trying to get things organised for that too.
So sorry to hear about your FIL, Tamara *hugs*

Don’t forget wool!
You can buy jumpers (sweaters) from Op Shops and cut them up and sew leggings from them. -

I would believe it Becky, I sew with fabric older then me!
Off to check out your links. 🙂 -
Nicole replied to the topic Hopscotch dress as a Baby Day gown-thoughts? in the forum oliver + s: hopscotch 11 years ago
@FrancesSuzanne, I am no expert but I overlay patterns when I want to size down.
So I would lay the Bubble dress bodice over the Playtime then flip over and perhaps fold some out?
Just a running thought…. -

I can second the vote for Kwiksew patterns, seriously ugly pattern covers but a good solid pattern.

I had thought of adding a cuff to the Sketchbook to make knicker bockers http://www.pinterest.com/pin/73676143878629714/
The Sailboat short are perfect to add a simple suspender strap too, in fact that pattern has an old world feel to it.
How tall are they? Could they carry off a Music Class blouse with Puppet Show shorts? Perhaps lengthen/tuck…[Read more]

I own and have sewn a pair of pants from Simplicity 2771. The facing on the top is very similar to the Oliver + S Sleepover pattern.
This was the pattern that taught me to use the high bust measurement for the top. I made the large size to accommodate my, um, hourglass figure and the shoulder seam comes halfway down my arm :-p

sosew replied to the topic sizing for the dress? in the forum oliver + s: playtime 11 years ago
Thanks! its a good point about the safety, i mentioned it to her mom and said its up to her to decide. I have a feeling it may become a day dress if it comes out well 🙂
helpful to know baout the neckline!

Thoughts on cute shapes for preschool aged boys? Things that could be adapted from Oliver+S patterns?
I was thinking of shorts or pants with suspenders? Other ideas? Ways to modify an OS pattern?
My boys (3) are too big for bubbles but I’d like some similarly cutesy things for them before they get too tooo big

What about just making a two-piece outfit and layering a lullaby layette long-sleeved top under a bubble dress?

Here is the finished jumper with the nap running upwards: https://www.flickr.com/photos/128353028@N04/15215509103/in/pool-oliverands
I like the look very much. It’s rather like looking into velvet when the nap is up like this. You’re looking down into the grove of plushies. Used nap down, as you would naturally do, light reflects off the…[Read more]
