I also have children with apparently big heads. I made the hopscotch top for my daughter (size 4) also in a sweater knit of the recommended stretch and it also would not go over her head. As you say: not even close. I guess the patterns take into account smaller heads. They might be the average, but for sure not in my family. I always check now as…[Read more]

I decided to do a button in the end so it isnt an issue 🙂
I have to finish the hem and then send it off. My 3 year old (boy) saw it and tried it one for me, hilariously cute!
Thanks for all the advice 🙂

We get it on UKTV through foxtel but the second series hasn’t been advertised yet. Maybe it will be our turn next year.

Nicole replied to the topic Raincoat? in the forum off topic 11 years ago
There have been some really lovely raincoats made, I know @beachmom made a very professional one, as did @katybellabug.
I made one, for my son, using oilskin/dryzabone fabric. I couldn’t iron the seams so I used a tongue depresser and a bit of brute strength to ‘press’ the seams open.
Someone, recently commented that they wished they put a draw…[Read more]

Anyone sewn a raincoat? My 19yo daughter put it on her Christmas wish list and I am tempted. I know she would get a lot of use out of it with our summer rain and hiking between classes at uni. So any tips or things I should know?

Not about the sewing bee, but it is about British TV so I thought I’d add it here. This year is the second year that there have been 3 episodes of the programme ‘Liberty of London’. While a lot of it is about sales and being a modern profitable business, the first series followed the print designers a bit in one episode which was really…[Read more]

Well it will be an interesting day of sewing for me today. We had a huge storm last night and it took our power so the generator has been going all night will be likely on all day aswell. We will test its limits with the iron and aircon aswell as machines to see how much it can stand.
I didn’t sew yesterday, instead I was sick on returning from…[Read more]

@Jane, thank you!
Have you heard the Vinyl Cafe podcast, Dave Cooks the Turkey? It is so funny.

Nicole,
It floats each year. I think the proper formula for when it falls on the calendar is the third Thursday in November.

I had a strange thing with flickr in that when I looked at the oliver and s flickr group at home then I could see my pictures, but if I looked on my Mum’s computer at her house I couldn’t. Turned out that this was because I was logged into flickr on my machine, and not on my Mum’s, and I had a funny setting on accessing the pictures, maybe…[Read more]
